Meet Meatball (bulldog 6 months) and Moose (Black lab 4 months). Both of these cuties started their training on 5/26 and are doing our Puppy Preschool Program. We are taking advantage of the beautiful weather and these pups are just rocking it in the parking lot with some distractions. During this training, you will see the trash truck come and Meatball (Bulldog) starts to react, but we just keep working through it and not making a big deal of it. It is important to realize that their training does not end at 10 days. Training a dog is a 2 year commitment. After the 2 years it's just maintenance.

Meet Badger. A 1 year 8 month old German Shepherd Mix. The first video was taken on the second day of his training. As you can see, his leash walking skills are sloppy. The second video was taken at the end of a 10 day program with his owner. Big improvements were made in just 10 days.

🐢 Planning a Road Trip with Your Dog? Read This First! πŸš—πŸ’¨

Nothing beats hitting the open road with your four-legged co-pilot. Whether you're heading to the mountains, the beach, or exploring hidden roadside gems, traveling with your dog can create unforgettable memories. But just like packing your own essentials, your pup needs a little preparation too!

Here are a few important tips to help keep your dog safe, comfortable, and happy during long car rides:

🐾 Safety First
Always secure your dog with a crash-tested safety harness, pet seatbelt, or travel crate. Loose pets in the car can be dangerous during sudden stops or accidents.

🐾 Take Frequent Breaks
Plan to stop every couple of hours so your pup can stretch, hydrate, and take potty breaks. Bonus: it helps drivers stay refreshed too!

🐾 Never Leave Dogs Alone in the Car
Even on mild days, temperatures inside vehicles can rise quickly and become dangerous within minutes.

🐾 Pack the Essentials
Bring:
βœ” Water & portable bowls
βœ” Food & treats
βœ” Leash & backup collar/harness
βœ” Favorite blanket or toy
βœ” Medications
βœ” P**p bags
βœ” Vaccination records

🐾 Help Prevent Motion Sickness
If your dog gets anxious or carsick, try shorter practice rides before your trip. Talk with your veterinarian about possible solutions if needed.

🐾 Choose Pet-Friendly Stops
Research hotels, parks, and rest stops ahead of time to make your trip smoother and less stressful for everyone.

Road trips are always better with wagging tails and happy passengers. Safe travels from all of us at Perfect Pooch! πŸ•β€οΈ

This is Navy (yellow lab). The owners recently rescued Navy just a few months back. I wish I had taken a before video so you could see how far she has come in just a few short weeks with her reactivity toward people, vehicles, and people with dogs. The helper dog is Juno (Great Pyrenes mix) who was the perfect candidate for this.

This is how we training multiple dogs at once. This is an extended place exercise. This teaches a dog impulse control, encourages a calm mental state, reduces anxiety, and provides a structured way to stop some unwanted behaviors like jumping on guest, begging, or running to the door. This is basically a crate without walls.
