Cork / Goose says you can skip the house training and he straight to the hikes + dogpiles on the sofa. He says he wouldn’t mind being an only child or having some siblings- he isn’t picky. He does need someone with a full jar of treats, though. He said that’s non-negotiable.

If you aim to use all of your dog’s food for either their training sessions, or just reinforcing behaviors that you like throughout the day- you will have a significantly easier time raising your puppy than most puppy owners! I have a hard time getting people to take my word for this, because believe me, I get that it sounds like a lot.

Realistically though, you have to feed your puppy at least twice a day. It either takes 20 seconds and accomplishes nothing for you, or it takes a few extra minutes and maybe a treat pouch or some bowls placed strategically throughout your house… and you will save hours and hours of training and frustration in the long run.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s not a solution to everything, but it’s a pretty great foundation!

Crate training is about more than just tolerating the crate, and it tends to be a little bit different for every puppy. Follow along as I post the framework of Izzy crate training as she progresses through her training stay.

PS: Izzy did get a crate upgrade after this video 💪🏼

Mocha is getting ready for a big field trip to Bass Pro Shops today… so here’s what her first field trip early last week looked like! Fortunately her owner has put in some solid foundation with her, so we’re able to get quite a bit of good work done in a short time. She’s such a fun pup 🐾

Magnus hasn’t needed a muzzle for his last two vet visits — huge win for him. 💛
But today I’m not feeling great, and that matters too.
Progress isn’t always linear for dogs or humans, and it’s completely valid to take a step back to set everyone up for success.

One thing that helps me with muzzle-trained dogs at the vet:
📸 I take a quick video and written notes of their teeth as well as any symptoms (strange gait, bumps, weird behaviors) and problem areas at home.

Why?
• Dogs stay relaxed in their own space
• Vets get a clear look without stressful close handling
• It keeps everyone safe and minimizes pressure on the dog
• It supports low-stress, compassionate care — even on harder days. If I don’t have to think as much and or if it’s not feasible to get a close up look, written notes and video evidence can give us a clearer picture and keep us on track.

Do what sets you and your dog up to win. Progress is a path, not a straight line. 🐾✨

My timing is a little off in this video, but this is our first session with this, so my biggest priority is less about learning and more about just being comfortable and enthusiastic in the exercise. I’d imagine that by tomorrow, we’ll have some notable progress and something that looks a little bit more like the... thing we’re teaching. Any guesses as to what it is? Any body language or breed information that clues you in on why we’re doing this?

Life is tough right now for a lot of people.

If any of our dog family, especially anyone who has trained with me, is struggling right now- please don’t hesitate to reach out. As many of you know, I’m just one person, also doing my best with what I’ve got, but community is here if you know where to find it.

I know I certainly have some means to offer help with finding low cost dog supplies, offering discounted, bartered, or free training resources to the best of my ability, and I know of many low cost or free resources that people might not think to look for or know how to find. If you’re struggling, and ESPECIALLY if you’re struggling to care for your dog- reach out. To me, to someone. If I can’t help, I’ll try my best to find someone who can.

Times are tough for a lot of people right now, but we can accomplish a whole lot if we come together.oñ

Days like these make it all so, so worth it. I’ll train your dog any day, but what I really want to do is open up their world, empower them, show them how to be DOGS. Daisy has changed so much since I first met her, her owners put in the work after her stay. I have no words at all for how incredible it is to not only see her existing around other dogs, but having fun and thriving. That’s my girl ❤️
