The Regional Animal Shelter (RAS) is a municipal facility that provides for the care and welfare of displaced animals from King William and King and Queen Counties. RAS assists citizens of our community with a wide range of services such as:

Pet adoption to suitable permanent homes
Tracking of lost and found animals
Redemption of animals to their owners
Dog licensing for King William and King and

Queen Counties

RAS ALSO PROVIDES INFORMATION ABOUT:
Spay/neuter
Proper pet care, treatment, and training
Community animal laws

Instead, it’s probably screenshots you forgot why you took, a blurry picture of something you meant to remember, and 47 nearly identical selfies.

Allow us to formally present our current shelter inventory:
🐶 Hounds in assorted sizes
🐾 Professional couch occupiers
🐱 Tiny creatures with enormous opinions
🛋️ Certified household freeloaders
👀 Several sets of eyes that will watch you eat every meal
💪 A few absolute UNITS
🤡 Multiple individuals with no discernible qualifications
💗 And a frankly unreasonable number of very good boys and girls

All of whom could be filling your camera roll with blurry zoomies, sleeping positions that defy anatomy, unsolicited close-ups, and approximately 6,000 pictures that are technically all the same.

These two found dogs were recently brought into the shelter.

The first pictured is an intact male beagle was found in King and Queen County, though no specific information was given as to where. He is not microchipped but was wearing a red e-collar.

The second pictured is an intact female hound. She was found near the 300 block of Commins Rd in Aylett. She was not wearing a collar, and is not microchipped.

Do you recognize them or know where they belong? Please help us get them back to their families by sharing!

She was red collar with a purple patch and is not microchipped.

🚨 Y’ALL. WE HAVE REACHED A LAUNDRY EMERGENCY.🚨

Our new washer and dryer setup is still under construction, which means the laundry has not stopped coming... but the washing has. 😭

And when I tell you our mountain of dirty laundry is about to REACH THE KENNEL CEILING, I am barely exaggerating.

WE. NEED. HELP. 😂

If you have a washer, a dryer, and even the tiniest desire to become our favorite person, PLEASE COME TAKE SOME LAUNDRY HOME. We will happily send you off with:
🧺 Bags of dirty shelter laundry
🧼 Detergent
🐶 And some extremely qualified laundry supervisors who would also be happy to go home with you permanently*

Seriously, even taking one or two loads would make a massive difference right now.

And because our clean-linen supply is disappearing approximately as fast as we can blink, we could also desperately use donations of:
🛏️ Blankets
🧺 Flat sheets
🛁 Towels

Our animals go through an unbelievable amount of laundry every single day, and until our shiny new machines are up and running, we need an army of people with washing machines.

Please help us defeat Mount Laundrymore before it develops its own weather system. 😭🧺

She has two eyes.
This post will age poorly.

Because today, BOTH are getting the boot.

It’s been real. It’s been blurry. Thanks for nothing, eyeballs.

Toodle-oo, looky-loos. Sayonara, suckers. Return to sender. Don’t let the eyelids hit ya on the way out.

Today Goggles is having a bilateral enulceation, and while that sounds scary, these peepers have caused our girl nothing but pain.

So…
WE'RE YEETING THE PEEPERS.

By tonight:
👁️ Eyeballs: 0
❤️ Eye pain: 0
✨ Audacity: unchanged
👓 Name: STILL GOGGLES
We will be taking no further questions regarding the name.

Swiss Roll has mastered the art of getting exactly what she wants. 😂

She loves her pets, she loves her scratches, and apparently she’s decided humans occasionally need a little help figuring out exactly where the good spot is.

Just watch until the end. 👀

A little turn… a little scoot… and she lines that b***y up PERFECTLY with the hand.

Coincidence? Absolutely not. She knows EXACTLY what she’s doing. 🍑😂

Siesta has started to notice something.

For months, he’s played his heart out in playgroups. He’s one of our absolute rockstars, the kind of dog we can count on to welcome a new friend, get the zoomies going, and make another shelter dog’s day a whole lot better.

And he’s made a lot of friends.
Dozens of dogs have run beside him. Wrestled with him. Chased him around the yard. Shared some of their happiest shelter moments with him.

And then, one by one, they leave. They get adopted. They go home. Their kennel is empty the next morning.
Siesta stays.

So we introduce him to someone new. He makes another best friend. They play their hearts out together.

And eventually, that friend leaves too.

Siesta doesn’t know that every empty kennel means something wonderful happened. He just knows he keeps losing his buddies and getting new ones.
We think it’s about time Siesta gets to be the one who leaves.

He’s happy, goofy, social, and absolutely comes alive around other dogs. He has spent months helping their shelter stories feel a little brighter.

Now we need someone to change his. ❤️

Come meet Siesta. And maybe, for once, let his besties watch him walk out the door.
