Just over a month ago, we received the news that Murphy’s Litter Mate, Buckley was no longer able to stay with his family due to no fault of his own. As per our contract, they contacted me first to see if I wanted to purchase him back so I could make sure he was healthy enough physically and mentally to be rehomed. Of course we said YES!
Buckley’s been with us since Jan. 18, which has given us time to learn his temperament as well as have him checked by our vet. He’s had a complete physical & blood work; the results show he’s very healthy. His front feet slightly point out, our vet thinks it’s nothing to worry about and that it won’t cause him any problems in the future. This is more than likely due to his feet sliding on wood floors during his critical growing months.
As for temperament, he IS such a love bug, great snuggler and gives the best kisses. He’s submissive with our other IWH’s, Male and Female. He’a gotten along great with other dogs at our local dog park, although he’s a bit “humpy” as expected for a big male teenager. He walks well on a leash, rides well in cars, although he’s a bit nervous to get in and has some training and knows basic commands.
Buckley is a typical young Irish Wolfhound: he loves to run, chase, dig, and chew. He is able to jump most baby gates. Buckley also loves to find things to chew on, but with gentle guidance he’s gotten much better, just in the last month. He’s super smart and loves positive attention, so I have no doubt that he will pick up better habits in a home with less dogs and with owners that can give him move attention.
He should be kept in an “X-pen crate” and needs almost constant supervision when not in the secured area until he matures a little more. IBuckley is completely house trained and knows how to use a dog door, however, he will bark at the door if he needs to go out and there isn’t a dog door.
Please contact me if you or someone you know may be interested in the possibility of giving Buckley a new home.
