It’s a busy week and officially feels like SPRING today! Blooming trees, toads and earthworms are here so spring must be also!

Here are a few memos we want our clients to know this week.

1. The end of this month marks the end of the spring promo flea/tick rebates. The manufacturer and us have combined to give a substantial discount when you stock up on 12 month protection for your pet.

Call ahead or stop in and take advantage of this before the month is over!!!

2. April is a time we focus on a couple topics near and dear to our veterinarians’ hearts.

Dr Abbey is passionate about and certified in many alternative medicine practices. There are several conditions magna wave, acupuncture and chiropractics can assist in treating. We’d love to tell you more!

Dr Paula loves to see things before they happen. With simple but valuable bloodwork on normal healthy patients, we can begin to see where health challenges may occur and PREVENT them from happening or lessen their effect. We call this Early Detection Screening. Our techs are well versed in what early detection screening test would be best for your pet and help Dr. Paula see what is coming before it gets here.

Have a great rest of the week everyone.

Wow the weather is NICE! Ticks think so also.

It only take a few minutes of temperatures above freezing to awaken ticks and get them moving towards a warm body. If that warm body happens to be your pet, make sure there are protected.

Why protect against ticks? They can carry disease, cause anemia, leave small wounds, cause itching and of course can be a stow away into your house as an unwanted visitor.

Call or stop in for the best pricing of the season on all our favorite preventives!

We aren’t HORSING around…..we offer some great equine services on farm and at our Keystone location.

If you haven’t received our equine newsletter this week and would like to, please call the office to let Cindy know to get you added to our list.

This month we are featuring equine dental care by hosting two float days. Big discounts, great care and conversation with Dr. Abbey and her techs when you schedule your equine work on April 10th or May 1st at our Keystone office.

Make a trip out of it and plan for breakfast, lunch or just a fancy coffee up the street at the Keystone Bakery! It’s one of our favorite stops.

We are awfully proud to offer quality equine services in Keystone and surrounding areas. Bloodwork, radiology and many options for alternative medicine are all services Dr. Abbey utilizes everyday for our clients either by hauling into our clinic or on farm.

If you’re an equine client or just interested in equine veterinary medicine and want to receive our newsletter, give us a call to be added to our equine email list.

Back to our trivia question from yesterday: How old is this cow?

Answer: Between 4 and 5 years.

Bonus question: Why are there no teeth on the top of the cow’s mouth?

Answer: Because ruminants do not have top incisors and have a dental pad instead. The dental pad is a hard pad that helps sheep, goats and cattle tear grass and hay when grazing.

Cows get their first adult tooth when they are 2 years old, their second at 3 years old, their third at 4 years old, and their last adult incisor comes in around 5 years old. You can see a tiny baby tooth still present in this cow’s mouth.
