“Patty” wants everyone to know she may be a little older than most of the dogs at the shelter but she still has plenty of love to share.
Patty is a female Dachshund mix and is between 6 and 8 years old. She is a little shy with strangers but is a huge snuggle bug once she trusts you. Patty is a tiny girl who melts your heart looking at you with her big dark eyes. Patty has a few health issues but it doesn’t seem to slow her down. She walks well on a leash but is very content with a short stroll and spending the rest of the day snoozing on her bed. Patty would do best in a calm home as either an only dog or with another small dog. A home with large rambunctious dogs is probably not the right fit. The good news is Patty is happiest sitting in your lap and doesn’t need tons of space to run. So a large yard is not a necessity. Patty has been spayed, is up to date on shots and is ready for her forever home. We hope you’ll give Patty the chance to steal your heart ~ you won’t regret it!

Meet “Minnie!” Minnie is turning one in December and would love to find her forever home just in time for her Birthday. Minnie is a shy but extremely sweet female Lab Mix. Although Minnie is timid in new surroundings she is a very affectionate girl who craves attention from those she trusts. She plays very well with other dogs and absolutely loves her toys. Minnie will not get much larger and is a great fit for someone looking for a medium sized dog. We know there’s a special person out there who’ll allow Minnie blossom into the confident girl she wants to be. We hope you’ll share Minnie’s story or better yet, come meet her yourself! She’s a doll.

Ready to meet the cutest little guy in Kerrville? Say hello to “Joe” a male 2 and a half year old Corgi Mix. One look at Joe’s Corgi sashay-wiggle- walk and you’ll be smitten. Get to know his spunky personality and you’ll be ready to take him home. Joe weighs about 33 pounds and absolutely loves dog treats. Every day during his walk he bee-lines it straight to the resale shop where he knows a treat is waiting for him. Everyone lights up when Joe enters the room. He is a small guy with a BIG personality. He’s not crazy about some other dogs but if you have one at home we could do a “meet and greet” at the shelter to see if they are compatible. Joe is housebroken and would like a yard but mostly wants a forever person to give him all the love he deserves. Could his person be you? Come meet him and find out.

Look at this face! No one loves their toys more than “Daisy!”
If you’re looking for a dog who’s equal parts playfulness and affection, then Daisy is your girl. This adorable gal is 42 pounds of muscle and is about 2 years old. Daisy will fetch the ball for hours in the play yard and loves to play tug of war. When she’s alone she’ll toss the ball up in the air and go chase it. Daisy is also a big snuggle bug and craves attention. She loves to sit close to you so you can scratch her back. Daisy’s smile is contagious and she never has a bad day. She’s always wagging her tail in her kennel and gets so excited when it’s her turn to go for a walk. Of course she’d love her forever person to come adopt her, but in the meantime she’s always upbeat. Daisy loves going on long walks and is extremely friendly with all people. It’s impossible to spend time with Daisy without falling in love. Her outgoing, bouncy personality is so lovable and we jut know her forever person is out there.

HAPPY HOUNDS!
These two GORGEOUS Hounds got to meet today and instantly bonded.
“Diamond” the larger female Bloodhound mix, immediately fell for “Sammy” the smaller male Hound mix. Diamond is about 10 months old, (a puppy herself) but she instinctively adapted her play style with Sammy who is much younger at about 12 weeks. They wrestled and raced around the play yard as happy as they could be. We were thrilled to discover another pair of friends who can share their outdoor time together.
Diamond is an extremely intelligent girl who has made leaps and bounds of improvement walking on her leash and listening to commands. She’s a fun loving girl who has a keen sense of smell and adores being outside. Sammy is only 12 weeks but his endearing personality is really coming out. He loves to play but is also very affectionate and craves attention. If you’re a Hound lover and interested in adopting either of these fantastic dogs, please call us to set up an appointment to meet them. Or come see us Monday through Friday between 10-12 or from 1-4pm.

NEW BEST FRIENDS!
Every day we work to find new friends for the dogs. It’s so exciting when we discover new buddies and today’s match is Atlas & Wednesday. Atlas is a handsome male Hound mix who just turned 1 year old this week. Atlas weighs 49 pounds. He’s been at the shelter for 9 months and is a happy-go-lucky boy who makes everyone smile. Atlas has a huge personality and his enthusiasm for the outdoors is probably due to his strong sense of smell. He adores going on his walks and spends most of his time nose to the ground. He occasionally stops to give you a big kiss as if to say, “thank you for taking me on this adventure!” Wednesday is a female Shepherd mix who is an absolute joy to be around. She’s now 3 years old and has been at the shelter for a year. She weighs 60 pounds. If we had to use one word to describe Wednesday it would be FRIENDLY. She loves everyone she meets and adjusts her behavior depending on who she’s with. Wednesday plays gently with smaller dogs and is more rambunctious with dogs her size. This wonderful characteristic makes her an easy companion to add into a family with other dogs.

Hi there. I’m “Sammy” and I’m a little shy because I haven’t been at the shelter too long. I was rescued with my almost twin brother “Sparky” who’ll you meet soon. Everyone loves my little cookies and cream paws and my caramel eyebrows. I’m only 10 weeks old but am growing up fast. I’ll be ready to go home once I’m neutered and have all my shots. The nice people at the shelter take me on walks every day and I get to sniff all the fun smells with my keen Hound nose. At first I didn’t know what to think about the leash thing. But now when I see volunteers come to my kennel with one my tail starts wagging fast! I love my walks. I will need a Mom or Dad who will be patient with me while I go through all my puppy shenanigans. But I promise it will be worth it. I’ll be loyal to you forever.
If you’d like to come meet me I’ll be ready to greet you with lots of kisses. I hope you’ll come soon.

Allow me to introduce myself, I’m “Chase,” the bounciest, sweetest Golden-doodle around. I may look big, but I’m mostly fluff and weigh around 45 pounds. The first 9 months of my life weren’t easy. We lost a young family member and my owner was no longer able to care for me. A kind older lady took me in but I’m so full of energy right now I was a little too much for her. The kind folks at the Humane Society are helping me learn nice manners and how to walk on my leash. They say I’m getting better every day.
My one year Birthday is this November and there’s nothing I’d love more than to find my forever family. I’ll be neutered and ready to go sometime in November but you can come meet me anytime between now and then. I may have a lot of puppy energy but what I really need is lots of love and attention. If you have the patience to work with me, I promise you won’t regret giving me a chance. Please come meet me soon ~ I’ll be waiting!

“Ziggy” is still looking for his forever home. If you’re looking for a highly intelligent, loyal, energetic dog then Ziggy is an excellent match. Ziggy would be happiest living in a home where he has space to run. His DREAM environment would be living on a ranch where he could be a working dog. Incredibly smart and a quick learner, Ziggy’s Border Collie genes are strong, making him long for a job to do. When Ziggy is outside watching the puppies run around together, you can see him running back and forth alongside them. You just know he wants to herd them together. As quickly as he learns new commands we think he’d adapt to any job he was given. But Ziggy craves affection as much as he wants to work. As long as he’s got a nice sized yard and a person who’ll give him the attention he deserves , Ziggy will be very happy. Ziggy walks great on a leash, loves all people and is housebroken. This full grown handsome boy is eager to meet his new family so come meet him soon!

Meet marvelous “Minnie!”
Minnie is a spunky 4 month old female Lab Mix who is equal parts energy & affection. Yes Minnie is full of puppy energy but she is also extremely sweet and will choose snuggling up close to you over playing. That said, Minnie loves playing with her toys and continues to get better and better walking on her leash. Minnie likes everyone she meets; people and other pups. Although we don’t know how she’d be with children, we suspect based on her demeanor she’d make a wonderful family pet. Minnie is around 4 months old and is about 25 pounds. If you’re searching for a younger furry companion who who has energy and kisses to spare then Minnie is your girl. Come meet her soon!
