💕 Our Story: It All Started with Jeremy
Every great story begins with love — and ours started with a brave little dog named Jeremy. Jeremy was a brown Dachshund/Boykin Spaniel mix from Staley, NC, rescued by a Sheriff’s deputy (also named Jeremy) and brought to Happy Hills Animal Foundation after suffering severe injuries. To honor his hero, we kept his name. It took time for him to heal, but through it all, Jeremy’s sweet spirit and gratitude inspired something special. Before the well-known issues with chicken jerky treats made overseas, I (Jennifer) used to give Jeremy and my other dog, Jasmine, popular chicken jerky strips — the same brand that would later make headlines. I began noticing both dogs getting sick after eating them. Once I realized the connection — and that they were made in China — I stopped immediately and started making my own safe, homemade treats. Those first batches were made with love, using simple, wholesome ingredients — and they were a hit! Friends and family started asking for treats for their pets, too. That’s when Pawlee’s was born: from one dog’s story, a mother’s care, and a desire to help other pets live happy, healthy lives. So, Deputy Jeremy, wherever you are — thank you for saving our sweet boy. ❤️
