Often New Years can come with new dog home companions of all ages that may have training needs. Or perhaps your dog has let you know their goal for New Years is to get more treats and fun time with you, and grow who they are as a dog-person, lol. Perhaps you have New Years resolutions for them, like leaving unwanted behaviors behind, or learning how to become the best trained dog on the block!
In any of these cases, I can help! I've been working with animals and rehabilitating dogs for over 15 years in training centers, shelters and vets offices. I now offer in-home training courses, where dogs get the benefit of getting professional help in the space where most of their issues arrise.

My curriculums are always up to date with scientific advances in dog training, and are always custom fit to address each dog-family's needs specifically. You will leave with a book's worth of information on how your dog's psychology works, what skills work, and how to avoid creating future training issues. In fact, in the future, you'll be able to tackle problems on your own as a new dog expert!

If you know anyone who needs help with their dog, feel free to send them this post. If you need help, please message at Emily's Dog Daze on facebook, and I'll get back with you as soon as I can!

I also offer free advice, so if you're struggling out their in dog-parenthood, please don't be shy! My work is about keeping dog families together and HAPPY. โค๏ธ

Happy New Year, to all my dogs and dog people!!!

A very common theme we work on in classes, but especially in the last few weeks, is.. DOGS HAVING BOUNDARIES!!!

Do you have personal space boundaries with your dog? Are they always following, constantly underfoot? (Every day is a dance in which you're trying not to hurt them while they maintain no personal-space boundaries ?) Does your dog know how to behave independently when you aren't around? Does your dog think that everything you do, also involves them? Do they think everything you do needs to go through their own approval process first?

I have really good news for you. All of these problems are simple to solve! We're solving them all of the time at Emily's Dog Daze as a team of loving dog parents, their very clever dogs, and also I show up, too! ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿซก. With consistency and learning better practices, we are overcoming life-long behavior problems that dog parents didn't think could ever be solved.

I do mean to pop in regularly, and ask what kind of issues you're working on, or struggling with, with your dogs.
But I also like to highlight a lot of very common issues, and share a lot of reoccurring themes from my classes, in hopes to help others who are on their happy dog family journeys.

This week we'll be teaching a lot of doggie meditation, confidence and impulse control.

Most of us struggle to sit alone with our thoughts and no stimulus for even under 30 seconds. Then we ask our dogs to be fine when we crate them for hours in a similar situation, without having taught them how to CHILL and be at peace with or without us, first.

No judgements here, it's hard to be a dog parents. And to be sure, there isn't just one right way to do it. Each dog and their family make for a different training adventure. Most clients are also trying to raise up human puppies properly when they ask for my help with the canine kids, and that can be an incredibly tall order. That I'm happy to help with.

So anyways, here's a regular post in which I welcome any comments or questions. And as always I'd like to remind anyone I teach, that all of these dog psychology tricks also work on human children.

I have so many awesome students this month. These two today were just STAR students. They learned so much so quickly. Both learned 5+ commands in under an hour, and were just hungry to learn more. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐ŸŽธ๐ŸŽธ๐ŸŽธ

Today, in Dog Daze classes, we are setting up a wonderful puppy for success, as well as helping a 1 year old who's developed some alarming behaviors, stay at home happily with his family instead of being very sadly rehomed. If you or anyone you know is dealing with dog behavior issues, please send them my way! I'm always happy to give advice for free. โค๏ธ ๐Ÿพ ๐Ÿฉ โค๏ธ
"I'm super excited for my classes today! I'll try to remember to get a picture of Heart, and share (with permission of course). She's a sweet tiny WICKED smart 3 month old tiny white cavapoo. Her parents are so sweet and she's so smart. I can't wait to do our 2nd class today.
And then it's off to Knox, the Mini Sheepadoodle. Knox is mixed with 2 hardworking breeds, an old English sheepdog and a mini poodle . Knox is a herding dog so he's been nipping. And we need to keep the grandkids safe. They were worried he's aggressive (a common line of thought, and understandably so), but everything I'm hearing is that his herding instincts are strong, and we can SO work with that. His parents were worried they'd have to get rid of him and they've had him for a year since he was a pup, so I'm kind of... their Hail Mary. He's not currently living at home because his owners are being very responsible about his nipping until they have the tools to address it. Today, I get to COME BEARING TOOLS!! SO MANY TOOLS!!! And Knox reminds me of why I do this work, because I'm saving dogs BEFORE they get to the shelter. โค๏ธ.

All of my students (always, but especially) lately are so unique and cool. They each have their own quirks and issues. And so many amazing strengths. I'm just really excited to help awesome dog people become even more awesome dog people every chance I get!!!!"

I wanted to ask if you're dealing with any dog issues at home. Not trying to sell classes. (Tho I can and will lol). But I also like to offer free advice, because sometimes we have dog issues that arise, that don't necessarily need a whole class. If you're struggling with any behavior issues, please comment or message me!
The whole point in this for me, is to help dog families become more happy together. Please feel free to ask for advice without feeling that I need a fee about it. I don't. I just want to help dog families.
Working at the shelter for so long taught me how deeply important it is to help families with dogs to maintain a sustainable day to day life. If you're having any issues please reach out. โค๏ธ

Olaf may not look like much of a teaching assistant at the moment, but he's gonna shine later today meeting a dog who very much misses her old companion. They are both very gentle, mellow dogs. So we're going to see if we can't spark her to more life today, as she's currently pretty medicated for very valid and traumatic shelter dog reasons.

Today we're working on building confidence, and using counter conditioning and desensitization to deal with her separation anxiety and other stressors. This dog requires my absolute A game, so we're gonna cook up some bacon before we go, too. โค๏ธ

If your dog, or someone you know has a dog dealing with emotional issues, reactivity, or destructive behaviors, please send them my way! I'm happy to help with training, or to offer advice. It's all about teaching dogs how to be ok in our human world, step by step. As they learn with you, your bond deepens, and their sense of security sky rockets, naturally producing better behaviors because your dog is happier!

They truly shine when they know what to expect and what we expect of them, and when we use only positive reinforcement methods.

As many students graduate class, it becomes time to fill up class slots again! Now offering training classes, taught Mondays thru Thursdays at a time that works best for you.
Have you recently adopted a new family member who needs to learn the people rules of coexisting peacefully in the home together? Or maybe you have an older dog who's developed some unwanted behaviors over the years that you'd like to address. Maybe you have a very well trained dog but you'd like to start working on specialties like tricks or agility!
I'm happy to help. Send me a message and we'll get you started off right with an Emily's Dog Daze training questionnaire. After review I can make class recommendations. As always, each student's curriculum is custom fit for their needs, personal progress, and unique challenges. โค๏ธ

Dogs are my passion, calling, and natural born talent. I started this business to use my 15+ years as a dog trainer and care professional to help dog families live their best lives together.

Often that takes professional help, because we speak a different language than our dogs do. Each week I'm working with families to help them curb unwanted behavior and train new cues, tricks and self control to their dogs. Watching them all improve their relationships together thru positive reinforcement, and learning to understand what's happening with their dogs. It's incredibly fulfilling work. That's the whole point of this for me, and I have more to offer to more people who need it.

If you're dealing with issues you want resolved with your dog, or want to learn how to deeply bond with them thru improved communications and behaviors, send me a message! Even if they're the bestest dog (as all of ours are lol) we can do trick training and get them to some pretty impressive capabilities. This process also deeply improves communication and bonds between human and dogs.

I offer just one hour classes if you have specific targeted needs. I also offer full courses and continuous training for those who are looking for a more generalized training experience to improve their life with their fur babies.

๐Ÿพ If it sounds like you or someone you know could use my help. Like and follow my page so it's easier to find later. ๐Ÿพ
