I’m posting a PSA, although I’m sad this is something that even needs to be acknowledged. The dogs we have are living, breathing, beings. They deserve respect and love. They deserve time and dedication. They are not a “process to be handled.” They are not an inconvenience.
We have an application process, like any other rescue. Our application is in no way excessive. We are not here to cater to people’s feelings or make things easier for them. If a rescue wants to put 1000 questions on an application to PROTECT their most precious thing, the animal, then they absolutely SHOULD ! If you can’t take the time to answer a few questions that give information on where our babies are going then you don’t deserve them anyway. We put our lives into making sure they are cared for, that they can work through their traumas and come live with their new family with minimal issues. We take risks EVERY DAY with dogs that owners want to dump for any and every reason. Whether that is to us, or to a shelter. I WILL NOT adopt out a dog w***y nilly just because your feelings are hurt or you think something is “excessive.” We have no financial gain here. But what do we have ? The feeling of success when each dog goes to a loving home. That immense feeling of deep seated love and emotion when that abused or neglected dog looks at you for the first time with trust. Rescuers put so much effort, tears and even blood into what we do so you can have that “perfect” dog you’re looking for. But those dogs don’t come to us that way. They are broken, angry, hurt, scared, untrusting and sometimes sick. We put in the hard work so you don’t have to, so you can enjoy the outcome of what we’ve done.
So, excuse us if our applications are “excessive.” We’re handing over pieces of our soul, and most of the time we never know what happens after they leave us. We’re putting our trust into you to do right and continue caring for the animals we’ve loved so deeply, no matter how long they’ve been with us.
We are here for them. Not you. And if that angers you, you don’t need to be here anyway.
To those that have been here, supporting us through it all, THANK YOU !
💚
