Originally, this was a video for a virtual client who has created a foundation between them and their pet allowing them to practice long leash stays, but I also wanted to share it on here and go over simple techniques to practice when you’re out with your pets.

Please do not try this if:
1.) your pet does not know commands
2.) you have no control over them or their leash
3.) your pet is known to take off, become distracted, or go after a person/animal
Remember to wait for a calm state of mind, any dog can give you a command but if they are not mentally calm it can go in one ear and come out the other.
Waiting for your dog to not only give you the command but also calm body language ensures the dog actually knows what’s being asked, not simply working because they are anxious or impatient for their release.
