Happy Birthday to Some Very Special Members of the Powerhouse Bullies Family! 🎉

May is a big birthday month around here, and we’re celebrating 3 babies who mean the world to us!

🎂 Jellybean turns 4!
Our beautiful girl has brought so much joy to our program and our family. Not only is she an amazing dog and mother, but she is also the mother of one of our birthday boys!

🎂 Mack turns 2!
Mack is extra special because he was born and raised right here at Powerhouse Bullies. He is from Jellybean’s very first litter, making this birthday celebration even more meaningful. Watching him grow from a tiny puppy into the incredible stud he is today has been such a rewarding experience.

🎂 Norman turns 6!
Many of you may not know Norman because he isn’t one of our breeding dogs, but his story is one that means so much to our family.

We got Norman from some breeder friends while my husband was deployed as a return gift. Early on, it was discovered that Norman had severe pulmonic stenosis and would require major heart surgery. Despite knowing the challenges ahead, we welcomed him into our family and committed to giving him the care he needed. He underwent an extremely expensive and extensive heart surgery that wasn’t expected to completely fix the issue but would improve his quality of life and help extend his lifespan.

Norman was never destined to be a breeding dog, he was always meant to be a beloved pet and cherished family member. At the time, the vet told us he most likely would not live past 4 years old. So the fact that we are now celebrating his 6th birthday is nothing short of a miracle and an incredible blessing!! 💙

Today, Norman is still going strong and doesn’t let his heart condition slow him down much. Around here, he’s known as “Uncle Norman” because he loves helping keep all the puppies in line! 😂 He has been by my husband’s side from the day he returned home from deployment and has been a constant source of love, companionship, and joy.

Norman is one of the biggest reminders of why we do what we do. He shows that our love for this breed goes far beyond breeding. He is our own little rescue story, a fighter, and one of the reasons Powerhouse Bullies became what it is today.

These three are such important members of the Powerhouse Bullies family, and we are incredibly grateful for every day we get with them. We love them more than words can express and look forward to making many more memories together.

Look who finally made it home!! Nugget is back with us, resting and recovering peacefully with her big ole cone. I’m beyond ecstatic to have her home again. This has been such a scary, financially draining, and devastating experience, but I’m so grateful to say our baby is finally back where she belongs. 🐾🩷

We know many of you have been patiently waiting for English puppies, and with the loss of this litter and Nugget’s emergency spay, we understand this may raise concerns about the timeline. The good news is that Chi Chi should be going into her next heat cycle any day now, and we’re hopeful for what’s ahead with her first litter. We are hoping for a big, beautiful, healthy litter. 🤞🏻 We truly appreciate your understanding and patience more than we can express.

With all that being said, we will be closing our current waitlist for English Bulldog puppies at this time. We are still accepting names for an interest list, with the understanding that we don’t have an exact timeline for when those spots may be fulfilled. Those who have already placed deposits will, of course, have first priority, and we will not begin reaching out to the interest/call back list until all deposit holders have been fulfilled. As we move forward and once we’re back on stable footing, we may also explore adding another breeding age English female to our program. This would be with the same level of care and intention, simply to help meet the demand and shorten wait times for families who have been so patiently waiting for their puppies. But right now Nugget’s recovery remains our top priority and we’re taking everything one step at a time. Thank you everyone for your support and prayers, our girl is home! 🙏🏻🐶🩷

Update on Nugget!!

Surgery went as well as it could, and she’s currently recovering. We were hoping to bring her home tonight, but she’s not stable enough yet for the vets to feel comfortable with that, so she’ll be staying another night.

We’re not out of the woods just yet, so please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers. We truly appreciate all the love and support during this time.🫶🏻

So one of our worst fears as breeders has came true tonight. Nugget has been off the past couple of days so we took her to the emergency vet tonight and she’s been diagnosed with pyometra, which was my guess going into it sadly. This is a serious uterus infection that requires immediate surgery.

So Nugget is currently back now getting prepped and heading into an emergency spay, her uterus and any potential puppies will be removed. 😢So this of course means she is officially retired. It’s incredibly hard news for us to process and honestly devastating as this is our first HUGE loss since starting our program years ago. But right now our entire focus is on getting her safely through surgery and recovery. Our biggest hope is simply that she comes through this okay without her uterus rupturing or any other complications that could arise.

Nugget is so much more than part of our program, she’s family. Anyone who knows me knows how deeply bonded I am to her, so this has been especially tough to navigate tonight.

This kind of emergency also brings thousands of dollars in unexpected expenses, that we need to figure out asap, which adds another layer of stress. Being in this business you have to expect losses and tough times but it definitely doesn’t make them any easier. 😞

We know many of you are on our English waitlist, and we understand this may impact plans moving forward. We kindly ask for your patience and grace as we focus on Nugget over the next 24 hours and figure out next steps for our program. We will share updates as we can. (We do still expect Chi Chi to go into heat soon, and will keep you all posted on that as well.)

Please keep Nugget in your thoughts and prayers tonight and into tomorrow. We are hoping that she comes through this strong and we will be back to cuddling with her chunky self ASAP.🐾🩷 Thank you everyone for your thoughts and understanding! 🙏🏻

Everyone!! Please help us welcome our two newest additions Gideon and Peach! These two are the future of PowerHouse Bullies and we couldn’t be more thrilled to add them to our program! Gideon is a handsome fluffy rojo merle and Peach is a beautiful rojo fluffy. We can’t wait to see what they produce! 😍🐶
