For years I have bred dogs. Started out with Scottish Terriers, then Jack Russell Terriers. Then about twelve years ago I decided I wanted an Aussie. Heard they were smart and at the time we live out in the country. So off I went with my son and we went somewhere about two hours away to get our first Aussie, Dixie! She was awesome and smart. She would run and jump into my arms! But so very sad she didn’t get to grow old, she died suddenly and I was a wreck. Even my little Jack Russell, Keeda missed her, she would walk through the house with her nose in air trying to find Dixie.
All I knew was there was this huge hole in my heart and I needed to do something to help it. So we search the news papers and we found an Aussie in Franklin. I knew this new pup wouldn’t replace my beloved Dixie, but maybe fill part of this hole in my heart.
This little furry black bear (Bailey) that didn’t want anything to do with me in the way home, soon filled that hole and then some! I wanted to breed her, but the only ASCA breeder I could was all the way up by Hardington, NE. So in the middle of winter we took her there and went back two weeks later because of a snow storm and then she only had one pup! One pup! Yogi Bear. Well, we couldn’t sell him! So that’s how I got two Aussies. Never did breed Bailey again.
I decided I want to breed Yogi, the one male pup that Bailey had, so I searched and found a black tri female in Emporia, KS. My husband was not on broad with my plan at all! “NO,We don’t need another dog!” But he, being the good man that he is, went with me to go get her. Now remember he didn’t want the dog, but she didn’t know that! Or did she?! She became his dog instantly and he loves it, except when she wants to go outside and goes to him and barks at him a lot until he gets up and does has she says!! He takes her fishing and bought her a ladder for the boat so she can get back in after she jumps in the water. He can’t even go to the bathroom without his little buddy!
