I have the most random, confusing loose dog encounters and today's left me so confused, almost in a comical way.
We were driving east down 518 when I saw a possible Basset Hound mix running west near Louisiana. We pulled into the vet clinic parking lot as I tried to get the dog to come to me. He kept trucking and barked defensively. A woman was walking to her car as I was sweet talking the dog, begging it not to run, and she asked if he was mine. I went into the clinic to ask to borrow a leash, because I was in my personal car and someone took my leash out of it, but nobody came to the counter. I went back out as the dog was about to go into the intersection and got him to come back, then he came up to me so I looped my purse strap around him to keep him near. All the while I'm on the phone with dispatch and she says "Aww" as I got him near and told him he was a good boy. THEN, a German Shepherd comes around the corner from Louisiana and I tell Dispatch "I have the one but now there's a second dog." I'm still on the phone with one dog in my purse strap and my arm around the Shepherd's side, yelling to the car asking my kid to run in and get a leash when a man walks around the corner telling the dog to come on. I ask if they're both his, since they came from opposite directions, they are. He tries securing the Basset mix when the Shepherd runs off so he leaves me with the little one and goes for the big one. Then he comes back and the little guy goes for the big one. He tells me the big one hates when the little one gets out of the gate and to just let the little one go. He gets the big one secured, the big one growls and the little one and off they go. I just looked back at my husband and daughter like what in the world just happened and they're cracking up because of course this happens with me and it was so comical from their viewpoint. 😂
