Bather/Brusher’s primary duties are to properly prepare, bathe and finish dogs or prepare them for the Groomer by using humane practices while minimizing stress. Additionally, the Bather/Brusher is responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of the grooming areas. Resort Counselors may be cross trained in Bather/Brusher procedures. Bathers/Brushers are trained by and report to the Groomer.
Primary Duties
Prepare dogs for bathing:
Brush out dog with proper tools
Trim/grind nails
Clean ears
Perform bathing duties as requested by client and described on the groom card:
Trim/grind nails
Teeth brushing
Brush-out
Bath
Express a**l glands
Dry dogs completely either by hand towel, hand dryer or the cage dryer, depending on the temperament of the pet.
Finish dogs as requested by the client
For bath only dogs, communicate with Guest Services when the dog is ready for pick up.
Walk dogs that are kept in the grooming area as needed or requested by Groomer
Ensure bathing stations are stocked with supplies and communicate restocking needs to the Groomer.
Ensure the bathers area is kept clean at all times.
Wipe up water spills or potty accidents immediately.
At the end of shift, vacuum all hair from the floor and ensure hair has been removed from tub drains.
Clean cage dryers and holding cages at the end of each day and as necessary throughout the day.
Follow safety procedures for dogs and staff at all times. Ask for assistance when a dog is stressed, difficult to manage or showing any signs of injury.

Minimum Experience, Skills, Certification or Academic Background Required
High school graduate or GED preferred
Good oral communication skills
Previous work experience, demonstrating dependability
Previous experience providing animal care (personal or job related)
Self-motivated, independent worker
Proven ability to follow instructions and learn new things
Ability to work in a team environment
Demonstrated flexibility and proven coping skills
