Important update… because I’ve been slacking on posting… 😅

As of a little while back, Luxie Lou’s Country Care’s Sole Proprietor FBN is filed with The County of Lake, is licensed and also insured!
🌟This is an official business 🌟

I know that house and pet sitting is often something done as extra help for friends and family (I did it often myself!) but with full time jobs and other obligations, that help isn’t always available. Finding someone with experience and the time can be a challenge!
I had also discovered the need for pet care related errand services for our rural community; so Luxie Lou’s Country Care was born! 🐾

…and as of today, I am also a Kelseyville Business Association member! 🍐😺

Today was our first day back inside our local shelter.

It was heartbreaking and emotional.

There were tears. There was shock. And there was the heavy reality of an overcrowded shelter and what that does to animals over time.

We met puppies who have been sleeping outside in the cold. Sick dogs who need care. Overcrowded, cramped conditions that no animal should have to endure. The noise, the stress, the smell of illness and fear.

No one who loves animals can walk into that and leave unchanged.

But here is what I want our community to know:

Stabilizing a shelter in this condition will take all of us. We urgently need the community’s support to help these animals get through this critical time.

Here are the ways you can help right now:

Emergency rescue support from partner orgs. There are 31 puppies of all ages from newborn to 3 months. We cannot let them grow up there.

Donate items from our shelter wish list:
clearlakeanimalassociation.org
(Dog food- wet and dry, cleaning supplies, bedding, towels, bucket beds, Kuranda beds, kennels) Remember to shop local!

Share this post so others can help.

Consider making a financial donation to support the medical care every dog DESPERATELY needs.

Every blanket, every bag of food, every ounce of help matters more than you can imagine.

These animals did not choose this. We need help to keep them comfortable.

Thank you to our hardworking new staff, volunteers, and teams from Bay Area German Shepherd Dog Rescue, Countryside Rescue Adoption Center and Fluffybutts Rescue Ranch for bringing a cleaning crew and supplies. Things got done!!

We also had a nice lunch- deli sandwiches and snacks donated by Foods Etc.-IGA , and our city council members, Russ and Tara. We appreciate them stopping by and being involved.

Tomorrow will be a big day with two Veterinarian teams visiting the shelter for wellness exams!!

Stay tuned!!

Hi! Thank you all for following Luxie Lou’s Country Care. I should probably tell you more about myself. 🙂
Luxie Lou is real. She’s a 12 (ish) year old rescued American Staffordshire Terrier who lives the good life!
I am Tamara Seabrooke, Lux’s mom and a fourth generation member of a farming/ranching family from the San Francisco Bay Area. My father and mother bred and trained quarter horses, competed in shows, and simultaneously held other animal care related positions, including as a ferrier and a veterinary technician.
Living among and caring for animals, large and small, is second nature for me… and when I say large and small, that covers a broad spectrum! Dogs and cats are a given; horses, goats, pigs, chickens… How about reptiles, amphibians, birds, fish? Yep! I have experience with those too and love them just the same! 🐸♥️
I also rescue kitties! Since 2024, I’ve regularly volunteered my time and resources for TNR, fostering, adopting and caring for a colony in my area. 52 felines saved so far, and counting! 😻

Other fun facts: I am a veteran of the U.S. Army Signal Corps. I’ve been to all 50 states (and a handful of other countries 😜) Most of my career has been in hospitality, including working for a world class fishing lodge in Alaska, where I met my husband. I love the outdoors. I also go to too many concerts, as if that’s even really a problem. 😉🤘🏽
