Unpopular trainer opinion: True socialization does NOT mean letting your dog run up to every single dog and person they see. 🚫🐕

​In fact, chaotic greetings are one of the fastest ways to accidentally create leash reactivity and anxiety!

​Real socialization is neutrality. It’s teaching your puppy (or adult dog) how to exist calmly around other dogs, sights, and sounds while still checking in with you.

​That’s the exact foundation we focus on in our 1-on-1 Puppy Foundations and Social Skills sessions—and it’s why we’re building the Kearney Dog Bar community from the ground up with trainer-backed safety standards. We want dogs who can relax on a patio with you, not dogs who are overwhelmed the whole time!

Hi Kearney community! 👋

​For those who haven't met me yet or haven't seen me around lately, I’m Brooke —local dog trainer, proud dog mom, and the founder of Bark & Blossom Dog Training right here in the area! 🐾

​While I’ve been heavily involved in our community—from training local pups to keeping busy with family, dancing, and local projects—my biggest passion has always been helping dogs and their families thrive together.

​That’s why I want to reintroduce myself and highlight my core focus: specialized canine behavior and reactivity management.

​Every dog has a unique personality, and sometimes standard obedience isn’t enough when dealing with leash reactivity, fear, anxiety, or over-arousal.
