👁️ Ever wonder what’s really going on inside your pet’s eye?
Here’s a quick peek at the amazing anatomy that helps your dog or cat see the world around them:
1. Cornea
The clear, outer surface of the eye—helps focus light.
2. Iris
The colored part of the eye—controls how much light enters.
3. Pupil
The black opening that changes size with light—like a camera lens.
4. Lens
Sits behind the iris—focuses light onto the retina. Can become cloudy with cataracts.
5. Retina
The light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye—sends visual signals to the brain.
6. Optic Nerve
The connection from the eye to the brain—essential for vision.
7. Third Eyelid (Nictitating Membrane)
A hidden eyelid that protects and lubricates the eye—can become visible when a pet is sick or injured.
