My puppies have arrived.
I'd like to say it was an easy whelping and everyone made it, but it was not easy, and life as well as death happened...just like it happens every day, everywhere.
On Sunday, Jada had a challenging emergency C-Section at Blue Pearl in the cities. We came home Monday with only 2 live babies. There have been lots of emotional ups and downs and tears. But now we have these precious, special babies to care for and we have adjusted. Jada is doing well. Her abdominal drainage tube was removed yesterday. She is starting to eat better. She is a wonderful, careful mother dog!! We have a team keeping an eye on the little family 24/7 for two weeks...and I cannot say thank you enough to my friends. I am filled with gratitude that Jada is still with us. Terry and I love her deeply, and now we have the privilege of two more little Beings to love as well.

Big announcement! Borzoi puppies due Sept. 21!
This will be my first litter in 45 years!
All the trainers at TCCA will be putting their puppy skills into gear
to help assure the most well-socialized baby borzoi on the planet.
We will, however, need to close earlier than normal for Winter Break to avoid any problems before the babies' immune systems fully function.

We wanted to let you know that we are changing the structure/format of agility classes at TCCA. Agility Skills will take the place of Practice Time. It is actually a CLASS with an instructor...but tailored to the needs of those who sign up for each particular evening. Rather than a weekly class, this offering will be scheduled when we have the good luck to have Christine available to teach. We will schedule out 2-4 Skills classes per each 6 week session we usually run. You can choose to sign up for just one week, or as many as you would like. When you sign up you will be asked to explain the level of your dog and what you want to work on for that session. This information will go to Christine who will design Nested courses able to accommodate Novice through Advanced participants. Again, this is not a practice session. You will receive instruction and feedback to help you polish your agility skills, tailored specifically to your individual needs. Price is $20 per session.

The classes will take place on Fridays at 6:30 PM. We have the next four scheduled and open for registration. Dates are: June 20th, June 27th, July 18th and July 25th. Congrats to TCCA trainers Elaine and Abbey (and their dogs), who spent the weekend competing at Barnhunt Regionals in Amana, IA. We can't wait to hear about their weekend, and are looking forward to get more Rat Sports classes and practices on the schedule soon!

We can't forget to (belatedly) celebrate May Day. Our version of dancing around the Maypole is three little Portuguese Water Dog puppies dancing around a food dish. We just had to share all the cuteness that takes place in Puppy K class!
