Why Does My Dog Roll in the Grossest Stuff?!
P**p, dead animals, mystery mud puddles—if it smells terrible, some dogs have to roll in it. But why?

It could be an old instinct to mask their scent from prey, or your dog might just be trying to share an “amazing” smell with you—a little stinky gift: “Hey friend, check out what I found!”

And sadly… some pups just truly enjoy the stank. If that’s your dog, I am so sorry—better stock up on shampoo and keep the bath ready!

I’ve partnered with NAWS - Northland Animal Welfare Society to bring the city Low-Cost Dog Training Classes starting June 29th!

For now, classes will be held on Sundays and Thursdays.

You control access to the fun stuff—food, toys, attention, walks, the backyard. Use that power wisely to reinforce the behaviors you want to see and gain their willingness to learn. Jay, the brown and tan dog in the video, has some big fear-based feelings towards other dogs we have been working through in private in-home lessons. His owners wanted him to safely play with their sister’s dog whom he was previously reactive to, and this is them loose and wiggly after a few counter conditioning sessions!
