Boy I love when ground work and consistency pay off! These photos may not look like much to anyone that hasn't been here to see the work that it took to get here. The horse in pink is presley, when she got here she hadn't been in a building or confined except in trailers for quite awhile. She wouldn't go in it to start, so we started with giving her grains outside and slowly moving them closer until we could get her all the way in the stall. And then we had to wait until she was comfortable in there and not just barely tolerating it. When she got comfortable, we tried to put the chain up just to see if she would be ok with it.... she was not, and it quickly escalated so we took the chain down and started again, but this time we had someone holding the chain for a quick release and the for the first time when she bumped it, we dropped it, the next time it took more pressure and more pressure until she learned to relax, she can turn around and see that she won't be there forever.
The horse in orange is fortune, my daughter's baby, she is an older (not old yet but no spring chicken) girl that just wants to coexist in peace. Unfortunately my horse does not do much peacefully and she decided to corner and attack fortune. They now have to be separated, for fortunes safety. She got pulled off pasture temporarily to heal and we debated which one needed to be permanently moved, turns out at this point in her life fortune is actually thriving being off pasture so the decision was made to keep her off. She has been in and out of the dry lot with presley and the backyard and still is, but her and presley get along famously and enjoy just peacefully coexisting together. It has been awhile since fortune has eaten in this confined of a space.
I thought for sure presley was going to finish her food and try to get fortunes or bite her through the stalls, but they were great! So proud of how far they both have come
