This sweet guy came through our doors as a stray on Friday, August 28, after being found near W 117th St & Lucille St in Overland Park.

Since arriving, Ranger has been incredibly stressed in the shelter. Today, we decided to give him a little break from his kennel and let him spend some time hanging out in our offices.

It helped a little…but this guy is still so, so sad.

At one point, Ranger was sitting in our CEO’s office and just started howling. We obviously can’t know exactly what he’s thinking, but everything about him makes us feel like there is someone out there he is desperately missing.

Please, share Ranger far and wide. Even if you don’t recognize him, someone on your friends list might. Let’s get his face in front of as many people in the Kansas City and Overland Park area as possible and help this boy find his way home.

Rocky came to us on August 25th at just 48 pounds.

Since then, our veterinary team has been carefully helping his body get the nutrition it needs with vitamin B, gradually increasing his food, and closely monitoring his weight and overall progress.

Yesterday, Rocky stepped back on the scale at 55.6 pounds!

For a dog who came to us in the condition Rocky did, that number is about so much more than weight. We’re watching him get stronger and getting to see more and more of his personality as he starts feeling better.

Rocky his the entire staff wrapped around his paw! He is so loved here.

He still has a journey ahead of him, and our team will continue carefully monitoring his progress along the way, but we are SO happy with how far he’s already come.

Rocky is exactly why we created our Paws & Purpose Campaign. We never know who is going to come through our doors or what they’re going to need when they get here, but your support helps make sure we can be ready when they do.

This is Slinky’s final update.

When Slinky came into our shelter as a stray kitten, she was around 3 months old and weighed just 1.3 pounds. She was so tiny that she needed time in foster care to grow stronger before she could even have her spay surgery.

And grow she DID!

Slinky officially hit 2.55 pounds, which meant she was finally big enough for surgery and ready for adoption.

Except… she didn’t have to go very far to find her forever home.

The staff member who took Slinky home to foster her fell in love and decided to make it official.

Happy tails, Slinky.

We’re officially down to the FINAL 50 tickets for Raise the Woof!

You know that thing where you wait to buy tickets and then suddenly they’re sold out and you’re mad at yourself? Yeah. Let’s not do that.

Ever wonder what actually happens during a TNR clinic?

This past Saturday, we spayed/neutered, vaccinated and ear-tipped 70 community cats from across the Kansas City area.

Come behind the scenes with Bonnie as she makes her way through our TNR clinic from start to finish.

TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) is one of the most effective and humane ways to manage community and feral cat populations. By providing accessible spay/neuter services, we can prevent future litters, improve the health of cats already living in our neighborhoods and make a lasting difference for our entire community.

And Bonnie? She’s officially part of the ear-tip club.

Rocky came to us yesterday after being found as a stray, weighing just over 40 pounds. For a Husky his size, he should be closer to 80+.

This is what Paws & Purpose is all about. Giving dogs like Rocky the food, veterinary care and time they need to get healthy and start again.
