Hey all! Craig Howard here. It’s been almost two years since the last Howard’s post so I thought it might be time for an update on what you can expect here moving forward. While our account has been used for farming and restaurant promotion in the past- it will be shifting to my personal home garden, home cooking, local food initiatives and supporting refugee farmers. Maybe some morel or fish pictures.
I have been working with for over a year now. If you’re not familiar with New Roots- we are a training program that empowers refugees, immigrants and English Language Learner farmers to develop sustainable businesses just outside of downtown KCK. New Roots farmers offer their vegetables through our CSA program, wholesale to restaurants, food banks and farmers markets.
As you can imagine this year has been especially tough on refugees and immigrants with the current administration making a hard thing harder. New Roots farmers can use your support this year and one of the best ways to do that is through our CSA (link in bio). Consider signing up or donating if you can. Our CSA starts the beginning of May so hop on board. We have convenient pickup locations around town and this year we will be opening up the farm as a pickup location. If you have any questions on how to support feel free to message me. I will give an update on where you can find New Roots farmers around town at different markets so you can directly support them at their markets.
Lastly, one of the best ways to stay connected with is by following us on Instagram. I don’t have a specific goal of how often I will post on here, but if you want to nerd out over garden stuff like or comment to encourage me. If it’s not your thing and you unfollow no hard feelings. Thank you all for the support over the years. See you around.
