One of the biggest recall mistakes? Punishing your dog when they finally come back. Your dog learns that returning to you equals something negative, making them less likely to come the next time.

Comment below⬇️ What recall training strategy has worked best for you?

"Owners, Gardenia and Heidi, of Kansas City’s award-winning, leading doggy daycare want you to know that your dog is never a number or just part of a head count.

We embrace the expectations families have in how their dogs are cared for and most of all, treat your dogs like our own fur kiddos 🐶

Taking care of your pup comes from our hearts and is exuded through our commitment to them and their well-being. 🩵 Using more than our experience, knowledge, and skills- we use our own strengths of care, compassion, and love of not only dogs, but all animals that share this planet with us.

This isn’t just a business or a job for us, it’s a reflection of what we believe in, who we are, and how we want to be remembered." 🐾

Troubleshooting recall

Bello shows off leave-it with a high value distraction - his friends working in the yard!

Bello is super social and struggles to not pull on lead over to people & dogs, especially his good friends. This can be an issue for his parents as he is not a small guy.

Here we are practicing a reward-based “leave-it” originally taught with the clicker (& treats). He’s working great for rewards like petting, running, & play, but we’re still using food in some reps.

Good boy Bello!

Please don't try this at home!

I wanted to see first-hand what it was like to wear an e-collar. I have a pretty high pain tolerance (I do pretty well getting tattoos) & have a healthy heart, so I thought why not!

What I didn't expect was for this device to cause such tension in my neck & head. Half an hour after this experiment I felt uneasy & twitchy. I thought the e-collar would hurt more in the moment, but it left me feeling tense outside of even wearing it.

I train without the use of e-collars or prong collars because I care about dogs' health & safety. I do not promote the use of shock on dogs, people, or any other animal.

This video & its caption are my opinion.
