I’m moving in a couple months from my cabin in the woods (hand-built by me) to a lovely home with 2 or 3 others, including a great friend (and owner) who has his own dream of creating a much larger home in a “lovely Mountain View” location out of 2 homes in one lot…. A challenge and a dream combined…. I’m looking forward to being a part of this project…. Jay Kai.

Summer in Hawaii is always been my most productive season - less rain, more sunshine, less wind. All good weather for growing. In addition, my tilapia fish just presented me with about 30 baby tilapia. I hope enough will survive to replace my current adult population of 6-7. So, what always grow well is taro and I eat the whole plant down to the roots. Yummy yum the sweetest poi made with mature taro root as big as two fists. I like to spice my poi with different spices and/or veggies put into the grinder as I make poi. It’s almost as good as butter on your potatoes. Without the callaries. The major challenge for me this summer is to get some of the invasive species trees cut so more sun will shine on my plants. Would love to grow some watercress and kale or spinach. So many choices- what to do. I hope those tree trimmers I met a week ago, come back so I know if they were serious about moving there business and families to live here. Whooooo what a win that would be for us and them…. Aloha, jk

Hi AquaponicsOahu Gang... yes, I'm still alive. Had a couple left inside curveballs coming my way recently - don't we all. Mostly "learning experiences", and whooooooo are they ever. Spend a year with a new mentor - name shall be omitted - who took time with me and allowed me to see himself as he really is. We were both vetting eachother to some extent and after a year, we decided mutually to step back and see what else the universe has to offer. It's now been several months since this decision, and we both need more time, before engaging again.

This is how it goes when you are doing "growth" in your life. As a new wellness coach - yes you hear me - I am practicing again, after some years of not practicing (life coaching) and it's working very well. Now have 8 new clients and each are fully engaged with me and I with them. We are all "healing" and it's an inside job for us all. And we are all supporting eachother in the effort. Hi Friends of Jay Ogden. Well, Its Official - I have been a resident of Hawaii for 50 years. After arriving here from Florida in 1969 (in the summer) and serving in the US Navy, I was married (1972) and became a father in 1979 (to our daughter - Malia), started my first of 4 businesses in 1977, and in 2000 after retiring from financial services (age 53 - now you know how old I really am), became a handiman (10 years), then opened a retail store for aquaponics food systems in 2010 and still help folks learn how to grow food in the backyard or in schools. Kathi (my wife from 1972 til 2005) and I are better friends now that we have lived apart and my partner of 20 years (Paulette Fukumoto) are living our dreams, as we both celebrate our 72 years of life together. We love to do Yoga and travel to great places (New Zealand, Florida, Alaska, Arizona, California, and soon to Italy and Japan). My hope is that all of you have filled your lives with as much joy as we have. And we plan to live another 50 years (hopefully to 120 years) and continue following our dreams.
