It’s not goodbye, it’s see you later.
My life is entering a season of change, and with that, it’s time to let go of the rabbits.
I got my very first rabbit back in 2008. Years later, that turned into a pair of Hollands. From there, what started as “just one litter” turned into a 4H project and later grew into a passion.
Over the years, I’ve been lucky enough to raise and show some truly wonderful rabbits. But the real heartbeat of this hobby has always been the people. The friends made along the way. The mentors who shared their wisdom. The countless memories formed through long drives, early mornings, busy show days, and chaotic extra-curricular adventures.
To every judge, secretary, exhibitor, and fellow breeder who has shared this journey with me — thank you. Your kindness, support, and friendship have meant more than you’ll ever know. While every community has its challenges, I’ve been fortunate to find some of the very best people in this one, and I’ll always be grateful for that.
And of course, a special thank you to my parents, who encouraged this passion from the very beginning.
This journey is hard to summarize in words, and nearly impossible to capture in a single post. Rabbit breeding has truly shaped who I am today, and I am forever grateful for the experiences, lessons, and friendships it has given me.
As for what’s next, Ashley will be caring for eight of my meat rabbits while I take this hiatus. The rest are available to new homes.
This isn’t the end. It’s simply a pause; until the next chapter begins.
