Dack 55621093
Mixed Breed, Large (over 44 lbs fully grown)
1 year old neutered male, 57 lbs
Intake: 5/15/25, owner surrender, 59 lbs
Last call: difficult to handle in the shelter environment; Dack is very high energy and is
nervous around other dogs; Dak is also allergic to beef and seafood so he has to have special food due to IBS
This pet is available for:
Rescue, Adoption

💕 Volunteer Notes: DACK 55621093 - 1 yr - owner surrender
- not yet dog tested that I know of; good body language passing kennels and play yards
- sweet boy has food allergies. Apparently his family didn’t want to deal with them anymore. They left a year’s supply of medication with him. He will require a special diet. No beef, seafood or grain. Currently eating canned food.
- good on leash, a little all over the place to see the sights.
- gave me puppy bows when we met then was a little skittish, then very friendly.
- couldn’t give him snacks due to his allergies so I couldn’t test his “sit” and treat taking
- his head is top of thigh and about knee high at his back
- Snuggy guy loves pets
- so handsome and very very sweet.

Meet Dack — a charming, intelligent, and loving pup who’s looking for a second chance at a stable, caring home. This handsome boy is not only potty trained (both outside and on pads), but also well-versed in basic commands. His favorite pastimes? Playing goalie with a soccer ball, cuddling up with his humans, and guarding his soft toys with pride. He’s deeply bonded to people and thrives on companionship — he’s truly happiest when he’s by your side, soaking up affection.

Dack is about as loyal as they come. He’s a quick learner, very obedient with family members. While he can be shy and cautious around new dogs — especially larger ones — he warms up over time with patience. Dack has a sensitive stomach (IBS), and is allergic to beef, pork, seafood, jalapeños, spinach, and potatoes. His previous family sadly had to surrender him due to medical costs beyond their means. Now, Dack just wants someone to love him through his quirks — and in return, he’ll give his whole heart. Could you be the one to give Dack the loving home he deserves?

When shelters exceed capacity, it can lead to stressful environments for both animals and staff. It also increases the risk of disease transmission and reduces the quality of care that can be provided.

To address this issue, shelters often rely on community support. Here are some ways to help:

1. *Adopt, don't shop*: Consider adopting a pet from a shelter instead of buying from a breeder.
2. *Volunteer*: Shelters need help with daily tasks like walking dogs, cleaning, and socializing animals.
3. *Donate*: Financial contributions can help shelters cover expenses like food, vet care, and supplies.
4. *Foster*: Temporary fostering can help reduce shelter numbers and provide animals with a loving environment until they're adopted.
5. *Spread awareness*: Share posts like the one you mentioned to raise awareness about shelter capacity issues and encourage others to get involved.

Every bit of support counts, and collective efforts can make a significant difference in the lives of animals in need.
