Proof that age is just a number: look at this smart girl go! 🧠🐾 puzzle master Pippy needs your help!

Since we shared Pippy’s story on Tuesday, she hasn’t had a single inquiry, phone call, or visitor. It breaks our hearts that she’s still being overlooked, but Pippy isn't letting it bring her down—she’s too busy showing off how clever she is!

As you can see in the video, this senior girl is sharp, curious, and loves a good brain game. Senior dogs aren't just sweet sunbathers (though that is still Pippy’s favorite pastime!); they have so much personality, intelligence, and joy left to share.

Quick Facts About Pippy:

Smart & Playful: Loves food puzzles, gentle walks, and learning new things.

People Lover: Fantastic with humans of all ages!

Dog Friendly: Prefers doggy friends her size or smaller.

Low Maintenance: Fully mobile, loves to relax in the sun, and asks for very little in return for a whole lot of love.

If you’ve been thinking about adding a dog to your family, please consider Pippy. And if you can’t adopt, sharing this post might be the key to helping her future family finally spot her!

Adoption Fee: $150

Location: Atascosa County Animal Control | 292 Spur 162, Jourdanton, TX

Hours: Monday – Saturday | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Come meet Pippy today and watch her work her magic in person! 💛

A Quick & Important Reminder for Atascosa County Pet Owners 🐾

With our Rabies & Microchip Clinic coming up on Saturday, October 24th, Friends of Atascosa County Animal Control and ACAC want to make sure our community is aware of state regulations regarding rabies—and that we still have pre-registration spots available!

Keeping your pets vaccinated isn't just best practice for their health—it is required by Texas State Law for all dogs and cats starting at 4 months of age.

What happens if a pet isn't up to date?

Citations: Pet owners can receive legal citations and fines simply for having an unvaccinated pet.

Mandatory Quarantines: If an unvaccinated pet is involved in a bite or scratch incident, Texas law strictly enforces a mandatory 10-day observation quarantine.

Severe Costs: When an unvaccinated pet must be quarantined, the owner is responsible for all associated costs, including citations, facility quarantine fees, daily impound rates, and reclaim fees—which add up quickly.

We want to help our community avoid these unnecessary legal issues and heavy financial burdens.

📍 Join us Saturday, October 24th!
We still have appointments open to get your pets vaccinated and microchipped before spots fill up.

👉 How to Register: Scan the QR code on the flyer or click the link in the comments to reserve your spot! (Please fill out a separate form for each pet.)

She was left with nothing. Today, Pippy is still waiting for her second chance. ☀️🐾

When Pippy came to us in June from a cruelty case, she was so weak and malnourished she couldn't even stand. Her body was broken, dehydrated, and covered in fleas.

With veterinary care, proper meals, and time, Pippy did the impossible: she healed. Today, this sweet girl can walk, run, and play! Her favorite thing in the world is simply lying in the grass and soaking up the warm sunshine—a comfort she was denied for far too long.

When her court case ended, we couldn't wait to find Pippy the forever home she fought so hard to reach. But months have passed since she came to us, and day after day, potential adopters walk right past her kennel. We don't know why—other than her age.

At 7 years old, Pippy’s spirit remains pure gold. She loves every human she meets, is wonderful with all ages, and gets along well with dogs her size or smaller.

Pippy survived the worst human neglect, only to be overlooked for being a senior. Please don't let her spend another month waiting in a kennel.

Adoption Fee: $150
