Nick, I was at the store yesterday and this is what I found when I got back to my car.
I looked at my phone and it was 77 degrees.
Went back in the store to see if they could call over the intercom for the pet owner to return to their car.
It was at least 20 minutes.
I called the police and while on the phone the owners arrived.
I canceled the police to come.
Needless to say they were rude and took no responsibility for their irresponsible actions.
Started with foul language and name calling for me to mind my own business.
No way, defenseless animals.
Please remind pet owners to please do not leave their pets in a hot car.

Good for her.
Now, I don’t know all the specifics of this situation, but you never should leave an animal unattended in a car like that.
Seventy-seven may not sound like much.
But it should be noted: When it's 77 degrees outside, a car can quickly heat up inside.
Even with windows cracked, the temperature can rise significantly within minutes.
After 10 minutes, the inside temperature can increase by almost 20 degrees, and after an hour, the car could be 50 degrees hotter than the outside temperature.
So yes, I would have done the same thing.
It is simple.
If I see an animal in a hot locked car I look for the owner and call the police.
If the dog appears to be in serious danger before help arrives or the owner returns then I break the window to rescue the animal … period.
And, if the owner has a problem with me busting their window.
Fine.
Bring it on.
I WILL SEE YOU IN COURT.
