You know what we should do tomorrow?!? HORSE SHOW!!

Gates open at 9:00, show starts at 11:00! English divisions on the flat for beginners, youth and peewee as well as classes over fences and times jumpers! Western divisions for beginners, youth, peewee and open from trail and rail classes to ranch riding and reining!

Let’s horse show together! Show starts at 11:00am, rain or shine - gates open at 9:00am! English classes on the flat and over fences as well as Western divisions are offered!

❤️ If I live for 1000 years, this picture will always remind me of one of my proudest moments. Lois is my horse, and she is weird: she’s an off the track TB and hasn’t had the easiest life with a lot of poor training. This picture represents her willingness to take a walk of faith for my oldest daughter, Kate, who has learned to support her and encourage her and most importantly, how to be kind to her. If I had a nickel for every time I saw Kate reassure her with a gentle pat or soft word or the support of her leg when she needed it over the past weekend, I’d be rich.

Being a horseman is not about ribbons or riding better than anyone else. One of the most valuable things we have to teach is how to lose graciously and to never put your competitive spirit above the needs of your horse. It’s about learning to love something bigger than you. It’s about making mistakes and valuing the chance to make a correction. It’s about knowing when to be hard and when to be soft.

It was an incredible team effort with our friend and fellow trainer at to put on a private schooling extravaganza at River Glen for our lesson students this past Sunday! Our riders got the chance to school the ring over fences as well as the cross country course! Collaboration and working together makes the world go around - it takes a village! ❤️

Horrific sweat scald - caused by blatant laziness of a rider who repeatedly asked this horse to perform in hot weather - and was then habitually too lazy to take proper care of him. This took a month of neglect to show itself, and will take weeks of care to heal. Unacceptable.

10:30pm and cool. Why wouldn’t we work the 17 hand monsters after horse showing…before we finish the barn for the night…so we can go school tomorrow at a different venue?!? Me thinks they might be hungry to progress. ❤️

Epic haul-out Barn trail ride to Buffalo Mountain tonight! 9 saddled horses loaded on the trailer, our other riders following us in the car behind and 5 excited barn brats in my truck…..yapping my ear off around every tight turn with their little helmeted heads blocking my side mirrors! 😂 They rode their little hearts out on our trusty steeds right on up the mountain! It's Schooling Show time again this month at Jonesborough Equestrian Center! Come school with us - we have both English divisions on the flat and over fences as well as Western divisions, including Ranch Horse and Reining Divisions!

Saturday, August 20th - RAIN OR SHINE (courses will be modified to run in our indoor arena in the event of copious amounts of rain)

No gate fees, no spectator fees (bring your own chairs!)

As a barn owner, the hardest line you'll ever draw is the boundary of who you allow in and who you allow to stay.

A friendly reminder to my fellow trainers (and any horse person in general)-

-Nobody is worth your peace of mind..if they cost you your peace, kick them out!

- No one can buy your trust, when you see their true actions...believe them.

- If they can't respect you or the facility, they need to leave.

- No amount of money is worth harboring negative energy in your work and play atmosphere.

I am done trying to hatch bad eggs. I am no longer willing to try to fix, help, slave or suffer for those not willing to give the same effort or at the least carry themselves with class and integrity.

Say it with me friends:

Your barn, your rules. And your happy place. If they don't like it, they can leave.

Customer service should not feel like slavery. You shouldn't feel uncomfortable when people pull into your barn driveway. Stick to your guts. And your boundaries. 💕

Most excellent love and care here with clients that are interested in both full and partial leases. Stall boarded with beautiful pasture turnout. Champions were crowned yesterday at our first schooling show here at JEC - and most importantly, all of our riders had the opportunity to school and advance in their riding and partnership with their horses!

Thank you to our enormous crowd of spectators, our Judge, Laura Ligon and to Sorrows End Farm for bringing your kids to school with us at our first event!

Our next open, judged schooling show will be in August - stay tuned for updates and dates here!!

It’s almost show time!! These little barn rats can make a competition out of about anything - first we had to have a pizza eating contest at a trot….and now they’re making sport out of playing in the rain…. ❤️

Fireworks and happy, oblivious horses….who have learned to be out with their pasture mates and become seasoned rather than confined in a stall alone and afraid. The 4th of July doesn’t frighten them - and they’re ready for gunshots and backfiring cars out on the trail as a result! ***disclaimer: this doesn’t work for every horse or every situation - we have big pastures, safe fencing and reasonable, seasoned horses for any frightened horse to buddy with. :)

Anna works for me and rides with me and watching her work as hard as she does for the past 9 months to EARN this win today in pink has brought me nothing short of pure joy. She’s not my kid…but she’s a part of our family and I borrow her any time I can. ❤️ And Domino - continuing to give everything he’s got and breathing like a champ in the dust on his new asthma meds. All of the kids rode great today - it was another red letter day. ❤️
