Chinese Crested origins go so far back in time, we can make only educated assumptions about how the breed was created. It is thought that in ancient times large hairless dogs from Africa were brought to China, where after generations of breeding they were reduced in size.

Chinese trading vessels traveled the high seas with Cresteds onboard. The dogs became famous as shipboard exterminators, expert at catching disease-bearing rats. They were traded among sailors in seaports around the world and, along the way, acquired the name Chinese Ship Dog.🐾

This is our sweet Penny. She is the littermate sister to our very first English that we ever acquired, Briony. We lost Briony, tragically, a few summers ago, and it left a hole in our hearts that only Penny has been able to fill. While we will not be breeding her, due to complications that she has had in the past with her first and only litter, but we do look forward to adding a piece of the pedigree into our dogs by breeding to their littermate brother who is owned by a friend. She is only here to show and cuddle.

Meet the hounds here at Debahtrio! The redtick girl on the table with the Purina towel is our sweet Clementine (Hilonesome Oh My Darling) and the lovely tricolour male is our homebred boy Finn (Debahtrio I’ll Be Your Huckleberry). These two have been with us the longest of all the dogs we have here. We bred them together once and kept a stunning make out of the breeding.

They are both working towards their AKC conformation and bench show championship titles as well as their UKC bench show championship titles and field trial titles. Hopefully, at least Clem, will acquire a Nite Hunt championship title. That is our goal!!

Clementine’s parents are both champion Nite Hunters (for Coonhounds, it’s a huge deal). Finn’s dam and sire were just lovely pets, but his dam is from heavy hunting bred stock and his sire is from a balance of bench show champions and pleasure hunters. The combo between the two was an aim to create a working dog with a good balance of conformation, flash, temperament, prey drive, etc. suited for both arenas.

We have this lovely ladyUFD to a wonderful predominantly AKC conformation and UKC bench show home. She comes from a long line of bench show champions, including a World Champion, as well as some nite hunt champions. Roughly a year old. She would thrive best on a farm where they can run around as much as they please within a reasonable amount of contained areas, or where she can be the focus of attention to be trained, accordingly. She is such a sweetie, but when she’s bored, she will venture and meddle. Her name is Dix. Her breeder and I would love to see her pursue an AKC conformation show career.

Good morning, everyone. I would like to take a moment to say that we rebranding a little bit, here, at DeBahtrio Kennels. As we have always focused, primarily, on our Chinese Crested breeding program, we would like to start pushing our English Coonhound breeding program and successes here as well, as they will be taking precedence in the coming year, having been on the backburner for several years. We are so excited for this upcoming journey with the hounds as we showcase them in conformation, bench shows, nite hunts, water races, field trials and so much more. Our Cresteds will still be here and very much involved with DeBahtrio Kennels (we have an upcoming litter). We are so grateful for all of the support from you guys. We hope that you, not only, enjoy our Cresteds, but that you can, too, fall in love with our hounds as much as we have.

Everyone, meet the newest lady to join the pack, DeBahtrio Easy, Breezy, Beautiful (aka CoverGirl). She is a result of Alvin (Bentley x Beauty) x Gypsy (Ernesto x Playgirl). Ernesto (Bentley x Tinker) being Alvin’s half brother, makes this my first line breeding project. I’ve never been more satisfied with breeding results. I’m excited to showcase her in the ring, in the coming year. She’s very rotten, always at almost 5 months old, and a tiny stinker. She has multiple foundation DeBahtrio heart dogs behind her and that what makes her SO special to me. To this day, she may be the best pup I’ve ever bred, and if you know me, you know I’m not a huge chocolate fan, but she is a result of two black dominant dogs that carry for chocolate. 🤎🍫🍩🍪🧋☕️
