Hoof care is super important… especially in wet and muddy conditions!

With all this rain we’ve had here at Silver Lining the past few weeks, we are keeping the health and wellness of our horses’ hooves a top priority!

Standing in muddy pens or paddocks for extended periods of time can lead to serious complications which could result in lameness, injury or other issues if not properly addressed. Here’s a short list of problems we look out for:
~ Thrush
~ Abscesses
~ Infections
~ Soft soles
~ Pulled tendons

To keep our horses in tip top shape, we use specialized hoof oils, sprays, cleansers and medications to lower the possibility of problems.

Let’s keep our horses sound and happy! Talk to your trainer if you have concerns or questions about hoof heath!

Barn moms are a gift to everyone in the barn. A woman can be a barn mom without having kids of her own and by being there for others.

Please help us welcome two new gorgeous horses to our barn!! 🎉

First up: FINN 💛
Always Ultimate aka Finn is a sweet 7 year old mare measuring at 16.1 hand. She is double registered AQHA/APHA.

Second is: MR. BIG 🤎
Toussaint FLF aka Mr. Big is a handsome 5 year old Oldenburg Gelding measuring in at a whopping 18 hands high!

We are so excited to help the owners develop and grow with these new young horses!

Let’s talk posture!

~ When riding a horse, the ideal position creates a straight line passing from your ear, through your hip, and down to your heal.

~ Your knees should form a 90 degree angle, while your heals should be between 90-60 degrees.

~ Your hands should hover about 4 inches above your horses withers and you should have 3 fingers (pointer, middle and ring figure) around the reins with thumps on top.

~ Your stirrups should hit just at or above your ankle bone when your leg is extended downwards hanging out of the stirrup.

~ It’s best to keep your core engaged & shoulders back and relaxed. Eye and chin should follow your intended path of travel.

Talk to your trainer about ways you can strengthen your posture and stability in the saddle!

This is Lucy, a 2 year old Mustang from the BLM! 💜

Lucy has been a fun project! She isn’t afraid of anything and has a lot personality! Lucy is getting ready to be a kids lesson horse one day.

Meet Our Lesson Horses

Risk Reversal AKA Risky!

Risky is an 11 year old Florida bred thoroughbred gelding. With 23 starts he won $55,745 on the track. Fun fact Risky ran till he was 10 years old and after his last race he retired from racing and found a new passion for jumping! We love the process of restarting OTTBs and are so thankful Risky found a soft place to land with us.

Did you know horses can become out of alignment causing pain & performance problems if they aren’t seen regularly by an equine chiropractor? Here are a few common issue that could possibility be resolved with a quality chiropractic adjustment.
~ Lameness or sore joints
~ Uneven strides
~ Trouble in a particular speed or direction
