We often get asked who our longest resident is and why they haven't been adopted yet. Currently our longest resident is Ms Papaya. Papaya came to JTAC back in MARCH and has little to no visitors since in our care. Papaya was originally so social with other dogs but shelter stress is REAL. People often walk past her cage without even a glance. Is it because she's a pitbull? Single pet home? Or because she often bounces off the walls with excitement when you walk near her?
Do you know what we see? We see Papaya, a four year old Pittie that was "found" by someone as they drug her from their car. Little emaciated Papaya that smelt of f***s and urine, skin infections, and just a sad mess. We worked hard to build her spirit and health back up and we love our little pittie. Biggest ears that don't know which way to point. Soft eyes that beg for extra pets and attention. And loves to be your side for snuggles and affection. Papaya wants you to SHARE her post to give her a CHANCE! Let's find her forever home together and share this post!
Everyone meet Papaya. Papaya came to JTAC in rough shape. She was "found" by someone and they had brought her in. She smelled horrible of f***s, extremely thin, wounds/skin infections, and she had the look of defeat and despair on her face. Underneath all of that, you could see Papaya's spirit glowing. We loved her outrageous ears that tend flop and do their own thing. Papaya settled in and you could see her confidence flourish. She's a four year Pittie that's on the smaller side. She's about thirty five pounds but still needs to pack on pounds to get to a healthy weight. When she first arrived, Papaya did PHENOMENAL with other dogs and enjoyed their presence. She has been with us for quite some time now and is stressed. She is not a fan of other dogs here so she is looking for a home without other pets while she adjusts and decompresses. She may be open to dogs again once she settles in. She is not a fan of cats. Her adoption fee is $160, which includes her vaccines, f***l exam, deworming, current heartworm/flea prevention, heartworm test, registered microchip, and spay.
