Hi Pack!

I hope you’re all doing well! I wanted to take a moment to update you on a few temporary changes within The Prefurred Pack team.

Beginning this Wednesday, Sarah will be on medical leave. She’ll be focusing on recovery for the next few weeks and will return to admin work as she’s able. After that, she’ll gradually resume light-duty visits before getting back to her usual schedule.

As for me, I’m getting close to my due date, and while I’m still handling a few light visits as I’m able, my ability is becoming quite limited. Once my son is born, I’ll be stepping away from visits completely for several weeks to focus on family and will only be handling admin work during that time.

Please know that admin duties are still being monitored, and we’re doing our best to stay on top of messages and scheduling. If we miss anything please do not hesitate to check back in with us. We truly appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate this special season of transition and change.

Horses come in all shapes, sizes, and colors, but their first known ancestors were only approximately the size of Labrador retrievers! Could you imagine seeing dog-sized horses running around?

Horses were domesticated about 6,000 years ago and have since been bred for looks, athleticism, and personality, which is what we’re used to seeing today!

Happy ! Today’s fact is brought to you by Miss Billie, the standard poodle! Don’t let a poodle’s gorgeous looks fool you. They were initially bred to be water retrievers and are highly intelligent. The classic “poodle cut” hairdo serves a vital purpose, protecting the dog’s joints and vital organs from the cold water while still allowing them to swim efficiently.

We love spending time with poodles and they are always reminding us how smart and athletic they are!

For today's , Sookie, the English Coonhound, has a question for you! She wants to know if you know what kind of hunting her breed is known for?

If your answer was hunting raccoons, then you’d be right! That’s where they get their name, although some are trained for hunting foxes, too. They’re fantastic at tracking and “treeing” raccoons for their humans!

Today’s is brought to you by all of our feline friends! I think it’s one of the coolest facts thus far, and it’s that adult cats only meow at humans! When communicating with another cat, they use body language and hissing/yowling. When it comes to humans, though, cats have learned that a higher-pitched “meow” is more likely to catch the attention of the humans in their lives and get them what they want!🐱

We would like to formally introduce everyone to one of the newest members of our pack: Bentley. He is the sweetest, most gentle teddy bear! Bentley loves to walk and play with his toys, and we absolutely adore him!

Today's brings us out to the farm! These adorable piglets want to know if you know how smart they are? Pigs are estimated to have the equivalent intellectual capacity of a three-year-old child! That means they can learn tricks, follow basic instructions, and even recognize some emotions in others.

We love getting to take care of your hooved farm animals and getting to know each of their individual personalities!

Hey Pack,

I wanted to take a moment to share some exciting personal news—I’m expecting a baby boy with a due date in mid-May! A little cowboy!! This is part of the reason I’ve been more behind the scenes lately and not personally handling as many visits.

My goal is to continue doing light visits and waddling some walks through April as much as possible, unless any complications arise. In May, I will be taking time off to focus on my family, including stepping back from many of my admin duties.

Rest assured, we are actively preparing our team to ensure a smooth transition during this time. To help with scheduling and coverage, we encourage you to continue booking early so we can accommodate everyone’s needs.

Today is Friday, so you know what that means! This week's is brought to you by Charlie. I’m sure you all know that dogs have an amazing sense of smell, but did you know they can smell separately out of the east nostril? This creates a sort of 3D effect, allowing them to more easily detect where the smell is coming from.

We have a new team member! Meet Eden! Eden will begin training soon and will later be doing solo visits. We are confident they will be a phenomenonal addition to the team!

Eden has been an animal lover their whole life. Growing up on their family’s homestead they had chickens, raised and bred English Angora rabbits, and even had a small herd of goats. A dog trainer for five years, Eden’s true love is dogs - especially German Shepherds. With three dogs and a cat of their own, their life revolves around their furred family, and they wouldn’t have it any other way.
