Warning! Cuteness overload. Bottle feeding the puppies 🐺🐾🍼We allow our puppies to feed from the mother for the the first week or so for the colostrum and bc the mother can easily feed the litter while they are that small. Since they grow so quickly we begin supplemental feedings to help the mother during the following weeks with a homemade formula. Some breeders will swear by pulling the puppies from the mother entirely at an early age, but that causes a multitude of problems bc they miss out on crucial social/developmental queues as well as placing the mother in undue distress both physically and mentally. Many people do not realize the importance of the role of the mother and some in the community will use it as an excuse to separate the puppies bc they are unable to handle the little guys around the mother (due to temperament issues). The mother plays an important role in stimulating the puppies to go to the bathroom while very young, keeping them clean, and preventing them from feeding on each other if they get too hungry (which obviously can cause an upset tummy).
