We’re going to try to stabilize this block as quickly as possible. At least 12 cats and a litter of kittens identified on day 1. That usually means 20+ cats!

Poor Prom King has definitely seen better days.

He’s obviously a banged up, hot mess. We’ll see what’s going on with him and go from there. He’s now set up and tucked in for the night.

The cats just keep on coming on this block no matter how many we do. And while things have dramatically improved, it will take several years of non-stop trapping to fully stabilize this block and the neighborhood.

Just a chubby King Cookie and his banana.

We will be looking for a foster for this handsome, funny guy who will help him on his weight loss journey. He self regulates his food intake so there’s nothing special that needs to be done other than not overfeed him.

Cookie loves to be brushed and play with his toys. He does also like to give some love bites as he’s starved for affection and he also needs more time out of a crate to run or play off his energy.

*If you’re not familiar with Cookie’s story, this 25 lb hunk’s family was deported. We happened to be at the right place at the right time when a neighbor was trying to find help and Cookie came home with us.

Thank you councilperson for championing animal welfare!!

What started as an informal text conversation between me, and Eleana back in Aug. 2025 became a reality last week due to her advocacy.

This is just ONE of MANY animal welfare initiatives, large and small, we’ve been discussing.

It’s been unbelievable to see animal welfare programs come to life and we’re grateful to get to work alongside and partner with our new administration, our health dept. and the JCACC team.

There are more great things to come and we can’t wait to share it with all of you!

6 more community cats ready for spay/neuter this week!

There are a lot of great things happening with animal welfare in Jersey City with some exciting news coming your way soon!

If you care for outdoor cats and want to get them fixed, we’d encourage you to take the Neighborhood Cats learn to TNR virtual workshop (link in our bio). There are also plans for an in-person workshop in the coming months.

The TNR groups can’t be everywhere all at once or provide on demand service so please learn how to actively participate. We need to turn a lot more feeders and caretakers into trappers!

It was a night! When some last min appts became available, the team dropped what they were doing and trapped 5 cats tonight and rescued 1 kitten!

Yesterday we posted about the 4 tiny kittens we pulled in, because kitten season is officially doing what kitten season does: creating adorable little emergencies everywhere. The littles are doing well and currently in the custody of kitten expert

But while the babies get the spotlight, we also want to remind everyone about two extremely adoptable adult gentlemen: Ralph and Teddy.

Ralph is a big orange sweetheart. Teddy came to us this winter with the fur burned off his belly, likely from trying to stay warm on a hot car engine, boiler, or something equally heartbreaking. Both boys are FIV+, both are estimated around 3–5 years old, and both are calm, gentle, affectionate cats with fully formed amazing personalities.

If you love kittens but don’t necessarily want to gamble on tiny chaos with knives for hands, consider fostering or adopting one of these mellow guys instead. They are sweet, settled, and very ready for a soft place to land.
