We are so excited to welcome Dr. Julie Edmondson to the team!
Dr. Julie Edmondson, originally from Ireland, discovered her passion for horses early, beginning to ride at age four. Immersed in showjumping, hunting, polocrosse, and producing Irish Draughts and Sport Horses, she developed a deep love of the sport that guided her academic and professional journey.
Julie earned a degree in Animal Science and her veterinary degree from University College Dublin before moving to the U.S. for advanced training at B.W. Furlong & Associates. There, she completed a rotating internship in surgery, medicine, and ambulatory practice, followed by a 1.5-year Sports Medicine Fellowship. Working closely with Dr. Brendan Furlong and his team, she gained extensive experience in complex lameness cases, advanced imaging, pre-purchase exams, and regenerative therapies. She also spent a season in Wellington, FL, caring for elite equine athletes and performing pre-purchase evaluations for international sport horse auctions.
Her professional interests include lameness diagnosis, advanced imaging (MRI, scintigraphy, ultrasound, radiography), and tailored rehabilitation programs to optimize equine performance. Outside veterinary medicine, Julie enjoys running, cycling, traveling, baking, and creating equestrian-inspired art. She has completed three half marathons and recently competed in a Hyrox event with her friend and colleague, Dr. Sarah Boyd.
Julie is delighted to join New York Equine — Le croí agus anam (“with heart and soul”) — sharing her expertise, enthusiasm, and collaborative spirit with the team!
