✨What to expect after puppy pickup✨

1. Pickup day is emotional for everybody🙌🏻
Bringing your puppy home is exciting, but it is also a big change for them. They are leaving the only home, smells, littermates, and routine they have known, so it is completely normal for them to feel unsure at first.

2. The first few days may be an adjustment🤫
Your puppy may be quiet, clingy, restless, or even cry some, especially at night. Some puppies settle in quickly, while others take a little more time. This does not mean anything is wrong, they are just adjusting.

3. Expect a change in appetite or potty routine at first🫶🏻
Some puppies may eat less the first day or two, and accidents are very normal while they learn your routine. A new environment, different schedule, and excitement can all affect them in the beginning.

4. Keep things calm and simple☺️
Try not to overwhelm your puppy right away. Too many people, new places, and nonstop excitement can be a lot on a young puppy. A calm start helps them feel safe and secure.

5. Start building a routine immediately💯
Puppies do best with consistency. Feeding around the same times, regular potty breaks, rest time, and a bedtime routine will help them settle in faster and understand what is expected.

6. Potty training will still need patience🙂
Even if your puppy is off to a great start, they are still babies. They will need frequent trips outside, lots of praise, and consistency. Accidents should be expected during the learning process.

7. Chewing, exploring, and puppy behavior are normal✅
Puppies learn with their mouths. They will chew, test boundaries, and get into things if not supervised. Redirecting them to appropriate toys and staying patient is a big part of the puppy stage.

8. Sleep is a huge part of puppy growth❤️
Puppies need a lot of rest. Do not be surprised if they play hard and then crash. Rest is important for their development, and overtired puppies can get extra wild or fussy.

9. Bonding takes time🥰
Your puppy may not show their full personality on day one. As they grow more comfortable, you will start to see more confidence, affection, playfulness, and their own little quirks come out.

10. Vet care and continuing their routine matters👏🏻
After bringing your puppy home, staying on track with vaccines, deworming, feeding, grooming, and regular care is so important. This helps keep them healthy and gives them the best start possible.

11. Training starts from day one🙌🏻
Basic manners, crate training, potty training, leash exposure, and learning boundaries should begin early. It does not have to be complicated, just consistent.

12. I am always here for my puppies and their families💓
When one of my puppies goes home, that is not the end for me. I love updates, pictures, and being able to help if questions come up along the way. My puppies will always matter to me.

✨WHAT TO EXPECT AFTER SELECTING YOUR PICK✨

1. ✨Pick your baby✨
Once you choose your puppy, I’ll confirm that he or she is still available.

2. ✨Send your deposit to reserve✨
Your deposit officially holds your puppy just for you. Once received, that puppy is no longer advertised and is considered reserved. It also goes towards the total amount of pup.

3. ✨Watch your puppy grow✨
From that point until pickup day, I’ll send pictures, videos, and little updates so you can be a part of your puppy’s journey.

4. ✨I keep doing my part.✨
Until your puppy leaves, I’ll continue loving on them, socializing them, and keeping them on track with age-appropriate vaccines and deworming. Grooming is a big part of their lives, so, it’s important they have a positive relationship with bathing, brushing, feet/face/ear touching. Socializing them with other animals, smaller kids, having a collar on. Hearing the vacuum on, watching the floor be swept with a broom! Everything !

5. ✨We plan pickup together.✨
As the time gets closer, we’ll set a meet-up date, time, and location that works for both of us. We all have very important and busy lives, so I understand if pickup needs to be made after then intended pickup day! I just get to spoil your babies longer!

6. ✨ Complete final payment.✨
The remaining balance is due by pickup unless we’ve made other arrangements ahead of time.

7. ✨Gotcha day arrives.✨
This is the exciting part, you’ll meet your puppy, get their records and information, and head home with your new baby. I will be explaining how to fill out paperwork correctly and showing vet visits where shots and dewormer got done, along with sending parents copy of health tests home as well.

8. ✨I’m still here after pickup.✨
Even after your puppy goes home, I’m always here for questions, updates, and to watch your baby grow. Don’t hesitate to reach out! We’re family now!💓

A lot of people say that if a breeder asks for a deposit, it must be a scam, but that really is not true. Honestly, I think that comes from not fully understanding how responsible breeders work.

A deposit is not just someone sending money. It is a commitment. You are telling me that this is the puppy you want, and on my end, I am committing that puppy to you too.

Once a deposit is placed, I stop advertising that puppy. I stop considering other applications for that spot, and I turn away other families who may have already been ready to move forward.

For example, if a family places a deposit and I mark that puppy as reserved, then two weeks later they decide they changed their mind, that puts me back at square one. During that time, I could have placed that puppy with another serious, qualified home, but I did not because I was holding that puppy for them.

That is why deposits are non-refundable. It is not about trying to profit off someone changing their mind. It is about the time, planning, and missed opportunities that already went into holding that puppy.

Deposits are not a red flag. They help keep things fair, organized, and serious for both the breeder and the families waiting. Any good breeder should explain this clearly before accepting any money.

If you ever feel unsure, ask questions. You absolutely should. But saying all deposits are scams is just not accurate, and it takes away from breeders who are trying to do things the right way.

This is not like buying something you can just put back on a shelf. These are real puppies, real homes, and real planning that goes into every placement.

If you are not ready to commit, then you are not ready for a puppy.

Maribelle is finally home with us and we are already so in love! What a fun trip bringing our girl home. She did so good the whole way, and she has settled in like she’s always belonged here. She is obsessed with our girls and Kam, loves carrying around her toys like they’re her little “babies,” and apparently thinks Kam’s bed belongs to her too. 😂 She is the sweetest little thing and we are so excited to make memories with this girl. Welcome home, Maribelle 💗🐶
