🐾 Testimony Tuesday 🐾

From senior Chihuahua who doesn't like strangers to a high-energy, ball-obsessed pup who never wants playtime to end—every dog deserves care tailored to their unique personality.

💬 "Chad was the absolute best with my geriatric chihuahua that normally hates everyone and my hyper ball obsessed second pup. It was so lovely to see pics of both pups snuggling on the couch with Chad after feeding, walks, and playtime. Knowing they were getting love along with the basic care allowed me to feel at ease on my first trip away from my doggies."

One of the most rewarding parts of pet care is earning the trust of dogs who are slow to warm up and making sure energetic pups have healthy outlets for all that enthusiasm. Whether your dog needs extra patience, extra playtime, or a little of both, my goal is always the same: helping them feel safe, happy, and loved while you're away.

Thank you for trusting me with your pups—and for the recommendation! 🐶🐶

🐕 Turn Every Walk Into a Super Effective Training Session

One of the easiest ways to teach your dog to listen anywhere and everywhere is to weave short training sessions into your regular walks.

Every 25 yards or so, simply stop and ask for a quick routine:

✅ Sit–Down–Sit
✅ Watch Me + 20-second Sit-Stay
✅ Come–Sit–Come–Sit

Keep it short. The goal isn't a long training session—it's simply checking in and showing your dog that listening still matters, even when the world is full of distractions.

As soon as your dog completes the exercise, praise them and say:

⭐"Good Dog! Let's Go!"⭐

For most dogs, continuing the walk is an incredibly powerful reward—often more valuable than treats.

At first, your dog may not be ready to listen immediately. That's okay. Be patient. Don't get frustrated, and don't pull them along. Simply wait.

The walk doesn't continue until your dog pays attention and follows your instructions.

Depending on what's happening around them, it may take a few seconds—or even a few minutes—for them to disengage from the environment and focus on you. But if you're patient, they will.

By practicing throughout the walk, you're training in a variety of locations, around a variety of distractions, and teaching one of the most important life lessons your dog can learn:

**No matter what's happening around them, the fastest way to get what they want is to pay attention to you and listen.**

🐾 Testimony Tuesday 🐾

Caring for senior pets is always something special. 💙

💬 “Chad was wonderful caring for our old and beloved cat Tomahawk… He consistently showed up for medication, litter cleanup, playtime, special feeding and lots of TLC. It was heartwarming to see how our cat went from hiding to waiting by the door to greet him.”

That transformation says everything. Building trust—especially with older or more reserved pets—takes patience, consistency, and a gentle approach. Seeing Tomahawk grow comfortable and even excited for visits truly made my day. 🐱✨

Thank you for trusting me with such an important member of your family.

🌌🐾 May the 4th Be With You… and Your Pup! 🐾🌌

In training (and in a galaxy far, far away), there’s a lesson that always holds true:

“Do or do not… there is no try.”

Consistency matters. Clear communication matters. And when it comes to your dog’s training, showing up and following through makes all the difference.

Whether it’s recall, leash manners, or building better behavior — progress doesn’t come from trying once in a while… it comes from doing, practicing, and building habits your dog can rely on.

May your training be consistent, your treats be high value, and your dog always choose the light side. 🐶✨

📦 “101 Things to Do with a Box” Game

Looking for a fun, low-pressure way to build your dog’s confidence and problem-solving skills?
All you need is… a cardboard box.

🧠 How It Works

Place a box on the floor and reward any interaction:
• Sniffing
• Pawing
• Stepping in
• Nudging

There are no wrong answers here — your dog gets to think, explore, and create.

🎯 Why This Game Is So Powerful

✔ Builds confidence (especially for shy or unsure dogs)
✔ Encourages independent thinking
✔ Burns mental energy fast
✔ Strengthens your communication through positive reinforcement

This is shaping in action — rewarding small choices that lead to bigger behaviors.

🎲 Make It a Family Activity

• Kids can be the treat tossers
• Take turns rewarding new behaviors
• See how many “new ideas” your dog can come up with
• Celebrate creativity — not perfection

🔥 Want to Level It Up?

• Reward specific behaviors (like stepping fully into the box)
• Create a “busy box” with toys and treats inside
• Build toward a fun trick like pushing or flipping the box

🐾 Bottom Line:
Dogs don’t just need exercise — they need opportunities to think.

When we let dogs problem-solve instead of just follow cues, we build confidence, resilience, and better behavior overall.

Give it a try and tell me what your dog invents! 👇

🐾 One Year Later… 🐾

It’s officially been a year since Dogs Day Out closed and I decided to take the leap and go out on my own.

I just want to take a moment to say thank you — because there’s no way I’d be here without the people around me.

To my wife — thank you for your constant support, encouragement, and for believing in this even when it was uncertain.

To my friends and family — thank you for sharing my posts, spreading the word, and helping me grow.

And to all the pet parents who have trusted me with your dogs — thank you. That trust means everything to me.

What started as a risk has turned into something I truly can’t imagine not doing. Being able to work with dogs every day, build relationships, and grow something of my own has been incredibly rewarding.

And I’ll be honest… going back to a traditional 9–5 with someone looking over my shoulder? That sounds like a nightmare 😅

So truly — thank you to everyone who helped make this possible. I’m just getting started. 🐶

New House-Sitting policies.

I learned something new today. I've have worked with many many many golden retrievers in my career and found quite a few of them smelled a little bit like spoiled milk. Before I didn't put it together I thought maybe some spilled somewhere or on the dog. Then I made the connection. So I looked it up and golden retrievers often smell like sour or spoiled milk due to an overgrowth of Malassezia yeast, which thrives in their thick, water-loving coats and ears. The breed's active sebaceous glands produce oils that, when combined with moisture from swimming or humidity, create a ye**ty, musty scent, sometimes exacerbated by diet or skin infections.
