Babies! Babies! Oh baby!

It’s baby season here at the park so drive through slowly. You’ll see them tucked next to trees, logs or even stumps while mom goes about her daily chores. Once old enough to keep up, they’ll be seen running along side of her as they go about their days routine!

Lonesome Dove drive-through Safari and sanctuary will be closed for the day due to ongoing thunderstorms throughout the area.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused, and we look forward to seeing you at the park soon. We hope to be able to open tomorrow for standard hours of 10:30 AM until the last car in at 4:30 PM.

Lonesome Dove Drive Thru Safari and Sanctuary wants to pause and say a very special thank you to all who have given the ultimate sacrifice for us and our freedoms.

We do not take yours or your family’s sacrifices for granted as we know first hand what it is like to love, miss and grieve a family member who has paid the ultimate price for our country.

As you and your loved ones go about celebrating this three day weekend, we ask that you pause along with us and say a silent prayer for each and every fallen service member and the family they left behind. National moment of remembrance to pause and give a silent moment of remembrance is at 3 PM local time, but taking time to remember these remarkable beings can take place anytime and anywhere.

As always, we offer first responder, military, educator and senior citizen discounts daily with proper valid ID. We are open 10:30 AM until 4:30 PM, which is the last car in, daily and of course that is weather permitting. Our physical address is 1782 N. US Highway 59 in Jefferson, Texas.

🚨🚨🚨DELAYED OPENING🚨🚨🚨

Due to strong thunderstorms in the area with large wind gusts, we will have a delayed opening.

The park will open at 11 this Saturday May 23rd!

You never know what cool things you’ll see if you just slow down long enough to take it all in!

Of course the white bison is a beauty, but getting to watch a harmless (chicken/rat 🐍depending on who you ask) snake emerge from its home to check out what the day has in store, well, that’s just fascinating!

So if you’re looking for some magic in your day, come on out to the park and see some of our perfect and perfect to us animals.

Remember, we do rescue work, so some of our babies may seem less than perfect to you , but I can assure you that they all get the love, attention and medical care they need. If you have a question about one of them while here, just ask one of the employees and they’ll be happy to tell you why that parrot is a “plucker” or what happened to the animal in the end pen which I, as a former educator, call our special needs pen.

We have had animals come through here of all sorts: perfect, imperfect and everywhere in between. And guess what? We give them all a chance at a good life! Even the snakes! 🐍lol 😁 Each one deserves compassion and simply a
chance at life-just like us humans!

The day is great and summer is almost upon us. Get here early, pack a picnic lunch and enjoy the picnic tables while the weather is tolerable!!!☀️☀️☀️

🩷HAPPY MOTHERS DAY WEEKEND💙

Join us at the park this weekend where MOTHERS GET IN FREE!

That’s right! We want to help you celebrate the mother you love so much, so come on out and join us in feeding animals and making memories.

While here, please help us welcome one of our newest additions, Luke Skywalker, who was born on May the 4th! This little guy joins a heard of family members that all have names that are centered around planets and the sky.
