Watch for algae blooms 🦠

Planning a trip to Detroit Lake? Here's an important update for pet owners.

A precautionary advisory has been issued for Detroit Lake due to cyanotoxins. Current levels are considered safe for people, but they may still be harmful to pets.

If you're bringing your dog along, take a few extra precautions:
🐕 Keep dogs out of water that is foamy, scummy, or looks like spilled paint.
💧 Don't let them drink lake water or lick algae from rocks, the shoreline, or their fur.
🚿 Rinse your dog with clean water if they come into contact with a bloom.
🚨 Contact a veterinarian right away if your dog shows symptoms such as vomiting, weakness, drooling, or staggering.

We all want our summer adventures to end with happy memories and wagging
tails. Help keep your furry family members safe by knowing what to look for before
they jump in.

Too hot to trot? Bring your pups by for a visit. Our facility is climate controlled, staying a comfortable temperature. We have indoor and outdoor play yards, along with ponds for swim sessions! We are looking forward to a fun filled summer 😎

Oregon Youth: Name Our New Fish & Wildlife K-9 🐕

Paws up for OSP’s newest K‑9 recruit! This one-year-old red Lab is training to join K‑9 Scout and K‑9 Drake in protecting Oregon’s natural resources. But before he hits the field, he needs an official name — and Oregon youth ages 9–17 get to choose it!

Submit your wildlife, fish, or outdoors‑inspired name idea by June 14, 2026, using the OSP online form. One entry per youth. Finalists will be chosen for statewide voting, and the winner will get to meet the new K‑9 and receive special recognition.

Think you’ve got the perfect name? Send it in and help welcome OSP’s newest conservation K‑9, soon to be stationed in La Grande!

🚨FOUND DOG ALERT🚨
This sweet pup was brought to us after being found crossing traffic on Mission Street near the I-5 ramp. Thankfully, they are now safe in our care while we work to locate their family.

If you recognize this pup or if they belong to you, please contact us at 503-400-1886. We are open from 10am-4pm today.

A little May recap - Prom night was a paws-itively great time! Our four legged friends got some special treats, Smokey and Honey Love were crowned Prom King and Queen, and everyone had so much fun! Thank you to everyone that made it out 🌲✨
