We had a few heartwarming milestone adoptions this week. There are those special dogs and cats that when adopted, are cheered on by our entire staff of employees and volunteers. I can't say enough good things about our gal Alice. She went with us last week to Cowboys and showed everybody what a great dog she is. She played with the other dogs there, she loved on everyone and everyone fell in love with her. Sadly, nobody came to adopt her. Alice is the perfect size and temperament. She will make a wonderful pet!
All C.A.R.E. animals get spayed/neutered, receive their age appropriate vaccinations, flea treatment and deworming. They also receive a microchip before heading to their furever home. Please come meet Alice and you'll see what an amazing dog she is. ❤

Happy Caturday once again! Some of these are familiar faces because they've been with us for several weeks and in some case, months. This time of year it is more difficult for our mature cats to get adopted because they are in direct competition with our kittens. Please don't overlook these friendly felines! We are featuring Oliver once again because we simply can't believe he hasn't been adopted. He is an absolute doll! Come by today 12-4 or throughout the week from 12-5. You won't regret it.

UPDATE:
Sorry for the delay in giving a progress report on Charlie, Katie & BoBo. So far we have raised $1075 which allowed us to schedule Charlie's surgery for this Tuesday! We are still raising money for Katie and BoBo's heartworm treatment. We have raised enough for Katie's fist injection which will take place on Sept. 2nd. She has a loving foster who is currently caring for her and will continue through her recovery. BoBo has received $500 in grant money to go towards his treatment so we are half way there. Don't forget that you can take a dog for a stroll! We'd love to see you stop by C.A.R..E. to walk a dog or two. Today we'd appreciate it between 8 & 2. Avoid the late afternoon on Tuesday because people are picking up their pets from spay/neuter after 3. Wednesday is wide open and you can stop up any time between 8 & 5. See you soon!

We have another doggo in need of our help. Charlie was brought in by Animal Control with a bad back leg. We took him to Lakeway Animal Hospital for x-rays and the news was not good. He has broken all 4 of his metatarsals. That would be like you breaking all the bones in your hand between your fingers and wrist. OUCH! Charlie's best outcome for recovery would be to have the leg removed. Dogs recover remarkably well from this surgery and don't seem to miss the leg at all once they get through the initial healing.
We want to help Charlie but our medical fund has been depleted once again. The estimate for the procedure is $1,028. We have two other dogs that have tested positive for heartworms and that treatment is costly as well.

We had a great adoption week despite dealing with multiple emergencies with incoming dogs. We are busting at the seams with every nook and cranny filled with big dogs. Please come and adopt. If you can’t adopt, volunteer. If you can’t volunteer, donate. Anything you can do to help is greatly appreciated. Thank you to our amazing staff and volunteers for all you do!

Come join us out at Cowboys Bar and Grill at Lakeside today. They've been collecting donations for us all week and we want to come and give our thanks and have some fun. We'll be bringing an adoptable doggo with us so be sure to come over and show some doggie love. We should be there @ 4:30 and stay through the dinner rush. They're out on Hwy. 139 in Dandridge. Come by car or boat just be sure to come out and join the fun.
