On May 29th, we said goodbye to Dr. Schnobrich as she and her family began a new chapter back home in Minnesota.

While we are excited for the opportunities and memories that await her, it is difficult to put into words how much she will be missed. Dr. Schnobrich brought compassion, dedication, and kindness to every patient, client, and team member she encountered. Her gentle spirit, warm smile, and commitment to exceptional care left a lasting impression on all of us.

Veterinary medicine is more than caring for animals—it's about building relationships, offering comfort during difficult moments, and celebrating life's happiest milestones with families and their pets. Dr. Schnobrich did all of that with grace and genuine heart.

Though we are saddened to see her go, we are incredibly grateful for the time we shared and the impact she made on our hospital family. We wish Dr. Schnobrich and her family nothing but happiness, success, and countless blessings as they settle into their new home.

Thank you, Dr. Schnobrich, for everything. You will always hold a special place in our hearts, and you will be deeply missed by our team, our clients, and the many pets whose lives you touched. ❤️🐾

We're so excited to welcome Cecilia Epling to the team at Jefferson City Animal Hospital! 🐾

Cecilia joins us as a Veterinary Assistant with six years of experience in the field. She began her journey as a kennel assistant and worked her way up through dedication, passion, and a true love for animal care. She is a graduate of Republic High School and earned her Associate's degree in Animal Sciences from Ozark Technical College. She is also continuing her education as she pursues her Veterinary Technology degree.

What stands out most about Cecilia is her heart for her patients. She believes every animal deserves exceptional care-no matter their size, breed, or species. By focusing on comfort, understanding body language, and building trust, she strives to make every patient feel safe and cared for during their time of need.

Outside of the clinic, Cecilia enjoys hiking and camping with her two Blue Heelers, relaxing with a good glass of wine, and proudly considers herself a pasta connoisseur.

Please join us in giving Cecilia a warm welcome-we’re so happy to have you on the team! 💙

Meet Nova! 🐾💛

Nova, a sweet Golden Retriever, came to see us at Jefferson City Animal Hospital after her family noticed some unusual changes—urinary accidents at home (very unlike her!) and blood in her urine.
After evaluation, Nova was diagnosed with bladder stones, also known as uroliths.

These can be uncomfortable and, if left untreated, lead to more serious issues. The good news is that some types of stones can be managed with a special prescription diet, while others require surgical removal. In Nova's case, she likely had a combination of struvite and calcium oxalate stones.

With dietary management, some of her stones were able to shrink, but the remaining stones required surgery to fully resolve the issue. We sent off the stones to a lab to determine the type of stone, make sure her diet is appropriate, and that there are no other things we can do to help prevent recurrence!
We're happy to report that Nova did well through her procedure and is now back at home-happy, comfortable, and feeling like herself again.

If your pet is having accidents, straining to urinate, or you notice blood in their urine, don't wait— these can be signs of underlying urinary issues that need attention. Early care makes all the difference!

Tony the cat had one mission: find the hair ties. 🐾
This determined kitty went as far as opening a door and a drawer to get to them—and unfortunately, he didn't stop there. Tony swallowed several hair ties that then caused vomiting and a loss of appetite that his owners noticed and promptly brought him in for a veterinary visit.
After being seen by the veterinary team at Jefferson City Animal Hospital, X-rays revealed the hair ties were still in his stomach. Surgery was needed, and 7 were removed, with one more safely guided into the colon.
The good news: Tony's surgery was a success! He recovered well and is now back home, happy and feeling much better.
Why this matters:
Cats are especially attracted to small, stretchy, and string-like objects-but these can be extremely dangerous if swallowed. Items like these can cause: blockages or even life-threatening complications:
• Hair ties & rubber bands
• Dental floss & string
• Q-tips / cotton swabs
• Ribbon, yarn, and thread
• Tinsel (especially around holidays)
• Small toy parts or fabric pieces

These objects can act as "linear foreign bodies," which may bunch up the intestines and require emergency surgery.

We’re so glad Tony is back to his playful self-and hopefully sticking to safe toys instead of hair ties from now on! 💛

We had the absolute pleasure of hosting Angelina Johnson, RVT, during her recent preceptorship at Jefferson City Animal Hospital—and what a fantastic experience it was! 🐾

Angelina, a DVM candidate (Class of 2027) at the University of Missouri College of Veterinary Medicine, brought incredible knowledge, skill, and enthusiasm to our team. Her background in small animal anesthesia and her experience as a Registered Veterinary Technician truly shined in patient care.

Beyond her clinical abilities, Angelina impressed us with her professionalism, leadership, and positive attitude. She jumped right in, worked seamlessly alongside our staff, and made a lasting impact on both our team and our clients.

We are so grateful for the time we had with Angelina and can’t wait to see all the amazing things she accomplishes in her veterinary career. The future of veterinary medicine is bright! 💙🐶🐱

We’re excited to highlight and celebrate Dr. Kelly Lamarche! 🐾

Originally from Montreal, Quebec, and raised just outside of St. Louis, Missouri, Dr. Lamarche has built an impressive path in veterinary medicine. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Evansville in 2015, followed by her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2019.

Since graduating, Dr. Lamarche has gained valuable experience working in emergency hospitals across both Texas and Missouri. While she has truly enjoyed the fast-paced and rewarding nature of emergency medicine—especially developing her skills in surgery and feline care—she is now transitioning into general practice. She’s looking forward to building lasting relationships with clients and providing continued care for her patients.

At home, Dr. Lamarche enjoys golfing with her husband and spending time with their two orange cats, Boscoe & Marvin 🧡

We’re so lucky to have her passion, experience, and dedication—help us give Dr. Lamarche a warm welcome! 🐶🐱
