Good morning & Happy Spring ! Cool Meadows Farm, situated in Jarrettsville, Maryland, is offering a limited number of boarding opportunities, commencing April 1st. Our full-care boarding service requires owners to provide feed and supplements. Currently, we have one stall available, with horses being stalled during adverse weather conditions only. Unless it is training board. Additionally, one field board opening with a run-in is available. Our facility provides hay year-round, with twice-daily feedings. We also include fly spray application and blanketing in our services, with the understanding that owners will supply these items. With two on-site instructors, our facility accommodates various equestrian disciplines, including Western & English from Dressage to Barrel Racing, fully covered arena with lights, emphasizing care, health, and well-being. If you are looking for a fun group of people to ride with this is your spot! Contact us today for a tour!

Thinking about taking horseback riding lessons but not sure where to start? Whether you’re a child or an adult, learning to ride is an exciting and rewarding experience. Here’s everything you need to know before your first horse riding lesson!

What to Wear

✅ Long pants (jeans or riding breeches)
✅ Closed-toe boots with a small heel
✅ A certified riding helmet (we have some available to borrow)

What to Expect in Your First Lesson

1️⃣ Meet Your Horse & Coach – You’ll learn basic horse care, grooming, and safety.
2️⃣ Mounting & Balance – Your instructor will help you get comfortable in the saddle.
3️⃣ Basic Commands – You’ll practice starting, stopping, steering, and maintaining good posture.
4️⃣ Building Confidence – With guided instruction, you’ll gain confidence handling and riding your horse.
