Flora Friday!! ❤️ Cape Honeysuckle! Native to South Africa, this fast growing evergreen shrub grows well here in full sun in SoCal, growing as many as 15-30 feet! Ours is probably about 20 feet!

Flora Friday! 💚 Ocotillo. A symbol of the Sonoran and Chihuahuan deserts, it is commonly used in xeriscaping because of its extreme tolerance to drought. After a good rain, it will sprout little clusters of green leaves and then drop them just as quickly when the soil dries out. It will go through this process throughout the year following rainfall. When it doesn’t have the leaf clusters, it features a spiney bare-bones appearance. We will have to check back in the spring when it grows its bright red flowers!

Help us welcome our newest friends to the ranch! Three Dexter cows fell into our hands and we just could NOT pass them up! Roxy (red), Ferdinand, and Daisy are enjoying their new pasture amongst the goats and donkeys.

How ‘bout…FUNGI FRIDAY?! 🍄 A little change up from the usual Flora Friday, which is appropriate because our little change up in the weather this week had these guys come poppin up! The Dung Mushroom…😂 so perfectly named. They love wet conditions and poo. 💩

Two little “Chorus Frogs” moved into the koi pond a few months back. In fact, if you ever visit, be sure to check behind a pillow before sitting down in any of our seating out there…there is likely a little froggy hiding behind it! 😂 (please excuse my ranch hands…😅🤭

Introducing the newest Ryan Ranch Resident…Phoebe!!! She came to us a week ago and is just the sweetest little thing! We haven’t bunked her up with the boys yet, but they are all getting acquainted thru the fence and settling in. 🤍🖤🤍 Double tap to boop and welcome her to the family!

Flora Friday! 💚🤍💚 Desert Broom. A hardy evergreen shrub native to the Southwestern US and northern Mexico. In late summer through autumn, it displays small, dense clusters of white flower buds. Due to its fast growing nature, it is a great option for erosion control and slope stabilization. And the bees love it. 🐝
