Second Chance Canine Adoption Shelter started with a dream of former Onondaga County Executive, Joanie Mahoney. County Executive Mahoney began the process of working on a large project that would bring together inmates and homeless dogs. She configured a team of commu

nity leaders that would help see this vision come to light. The community, and beyond, joined in on the journey. The brilliant idea of pairing up inmates with shelter dogs was a sure way to give second chances to both the inmates and the dogs. Upon the end of the dog's training, they are placed up for adoption. Our hope is that the inmates will utilize the skills acquired in a productive and effective way as they enter back into the Central New York community. On October 16, 2015, the Second Chance Canine Adoption Shelter opened its doors! The Friends of Second Chance is a functioning non profit board who is dedicated to supporting the shelter including fundraising efforts to help sustain the shelter's long term success. Yesterday, we introduced some of our amazing foster dogs who will be joining us this Saturday—and today we’re sharing our shelter pups! 🐾❤️

These happy, sweet dogs are waiting patiently to meet you and find the forever homes they deserve. Each one has their own unique personality, but they all share one thing in common: they're ready to become someone's best friend. 🐶

Join us this Saturday at the shelter from 10:00am to 2:00pm and meet our wonderful adoptable dogs. We'll also be joined by Mamacita’s Food Truck, Recycle-A-Bull Bully Breed Rescue, and B&R Bunkhouse adoptables!

💔 FOSTER NEEDED FOR CLARK 💔

Our sweet boy Clark needs your help.
While Clark is loved by our staff and volunteers, shelter life is taking a toll on him. Living in a kennel is not where he shines. The happiest version of Clark is the one we see on volunteer outings—tail wagging, soaking up affection, and showing everyone what a wonderful companion he truly is.

Clark is a total lover boy who craves human connection. He enjoys spending time with people and thrives when he gets a break from the shelter environment. He also gets along well with other dogs, making him a great potential addition to many homes.

We know his perfect foster family is out there. He just needs someone willing to give him a chance. 🙏🏼

Help us get Clark out of the kennel and into a home where he can finally relax and be the happy dog we know he is. Please share for Clark. He deserves his chance. ❤️
