This rain which we needed set me back. with the garden. The good news been cleaning house ,rearranging furniture, if it continues hang pictures. poor henry the dog doesn't know what to think.

People entirely panic when June arrives and their vegetable beds are still half empty. They assume they've missed the boat and the summer season is already a write-off. The truth is, the soil has finally reached a decent temperature and things will actually grow instead of just sitting there sulking in the damp. Getting certain seeds in the ground now is exactly what your garden needs for a strong late-summer harvest.

I do medicinal tinctures ,Ilike this new way to make muscle relaxers.

was only able to pick a cup of honeysuckle, put on salad, with a strawberry dressing , strawberries and grill chicken next time. Had my own lamb with local potatoes ,local corn from Walmart.

Often when I discuss mulching the garden, people tell me they have nothing to mulch with. Here's just one example of a simple way anyone can provide mulch for their garden.

I grow Russian blocking comfrey as livestock feed. The rabbits eat the leaves, and when the plants begin to get their pretty purple blooms, I cut them back to make them grow bushier. The cuttings get dropped right on top of the soil in my garden.

Clippings from just about any plant can be used this way. As they decompose, all the nutrients in the clippings go directly into the soil, acting as fertilizer.

It's okay if you don't have enough to mulch your whole garden at once. It's also ok if it's not a thick mulch; while thick mulch does a better job of retaining moisture in the soil and blocking out weeds, mulching as you have materials is fine. It still feeds the soil.
