To the person that left a note on my windshield this afternoon: Your note read, "Shame on you!!! Professional???" First, I'd like to thank you for your concern for my dog, Stewart. Yes, I did leave Stewart in my car this afternoon when I went to the grocery store. I parked in the shade, left all four windows about 1/3 of the way down, left him with water and had a battery powered fan set on high. I was in the store for no more than 30 minutes if that. When I came back I saw that he had flipped his water bowl into the floorboard. Silly boy does this sometimes. But as there was very little dampness I figure he must have drunk the majority of the water. He was neither overheated or in distress when I returned. Ashamed? No. Stewart enjoys going with me in the car. This was the first day in 3 months where I felt he could ride with me again. I take his health and welfare very seriously, and would never endanger his life. Professional? Absolutely! Any pet left in my care is treated with kid gloves. They are kept safe and sound in their owners' homes. If they do need to be transported, they go straight to their intended destination. I never have and never would put a pet in my care in any danger. You don't know me, but were very quick to judge me.
I hope you never have someone do the same to you.

Just saw a post on Nextdoor about needing to re-home a very sweet 7 year old female Basset Hound due to death of a parent. She gets along with other dog, but is thunderstorm phobic. Anyone interested or know of someone?

Okay, another rant... When are pet owners going to understand that we are not living in the 1970's or before! You cannot, repeat CANNOT, let your pets out to wander around on their own. You can no longer leave a dog out in a fenced in yard by themselves! And don't even get me started on electronic fencing which offers no protection! There are bad people out there that think nothing of taking your dog or cat. Yes, they will even steal them out of fenced-in yards so electronic fencing is a joke to them. And most of these people are not keeping them as pets for themselves. They can and will be used at bait animals. Dog fighting.is still a huge problem. I see posts almost daily about bad guys breaking into kennels and homes to steal entire litters of puppies to make a quick profit for themselves. I used to think this was only a European problem, but it is happen here in the USA...in North Carolina!

Please do not let your pets out without supervision! It is expected that I will do that when hired to care for your pet.

I know it has been a minute since I posted anything of importance, and as much as I hate for this to be a rant, I can't hold it in any longer. Please tell your family, friends, colleagues, etc. to be very careful in choosing a pet sitter/pet care provider! I have received at least 3 phone calls since yesterday afternoon from people desparately seeking a place to board their dogs this weekend, A HOLIDAY WEEKEND, because the person they hired from one of the pet sitting websites has either cancelled on them at the last possible second or is refusing to return their phone calls! I had a lady this morning call me in a panic because the person she had hired from R***r.com was not answering her door. She had arrived at the sitter's home with her dogs, one of whom is 15 years old, and the woman would not answer her door or her phone! This poor lady was leaving to go out of town for 17 days TODAY and suddenly had no one to care for her pets! I couldn't help her because I can't board pets in my home. I can only hope she was able to find somewhere that could take her pups!

These desparate pleas are not coming from people who have waited until the last minute to hire a pet sitter. These are responsible owners that have booked in advance and have been left hanging at the last minute. This is one reason I have refused to list my business with R****r or D***ie V**C**. Apparently there is no accountability with these agencies that allegedly vet and background check the people that list their services with them. I was lucky years ago to find my dog's pet sitter on R***r, Alicia with Say Cheese, but have heard nothing but complaints and horror stories about these sites since.

There. I'm done. Just be careful, folks. Do your research. Ask for references. Keep in contact with your sitter at least 2-3 times before you leave. Believe me, I will understand!

Good morning, all! I am not taking any more reservations for the Independence Day weekend. Also, reservations for the dates August 19th - 22nd are also closed. I do keep wait lists in case of cancellations, so feel free to still contact me about the August dates. At this time I have 5 on the wait list for Independence Day weekend.
