This horse had a laminitis attack. The before X-rays are from September. Jason shod it three weeks ago. It’s nice to see the shoeing package is helping.

This nice horse had some not-so-nice-long-toes... Jason removed the shoe, removed the overgrowth, brought the heels back, and is letting these hooves breathe a bit before the shoes go back on. The last photo wasn't great because this sweet horse was quite tired of the lengthy manicure (meaning, this horse wanted to put its hoof down!). The owner - and the horse - were very happy to get these hooves back where they should be!
Call today before your horse's toes get too long - your horse will thank you! ;) Call or text Jason @ 715-445-1022

JAMESTOWN HORSE FRIENDS:

From Marcy Norwood…

📣 Bulletin:

As most of you know and for those that don't, I've been talking with Pinnacle Equine Hospital in Knoxville, TN and have helped them to set up all day farm call appointments over the last few weeks for our community in Spruce Creek and surrounding areas.
With that being said, Pinnacle Equine is looking to do a meet and greet the first week of December, which will be a great opportunity for clients, and potential clients to meet the team and learn more about their practice. They also have some (potential) other things they are thinking of doing for our community and surrounding areas regarding emergency visits. So please be sure to attend to learn more!

Interested individuals are requested to confirm their availability, and the exact day and time will be set accordingly. The event is expected to take place in the evening on December 5th around 6pm (at least that's what we are shooting for), and will probably take place at Freddie's Hitchin' Post. We are trying to secure a good enough location that is warm where they can set up a slide presentation, accomodate 30 or more people, and have a good meal at the same time. If anyone has any other ideas for a suitable location, please let me know!

Stay tuned for more details and mark your calendars for a chance to connect with them!

Located in Knoxville, Tennessee, Pinnacle Equine Hospital provides elite medical care for horses across the region with state-of-the-art technology.

Balance is key in a hoof. If your toe is too long, and your shoe isn’t back under the heel all sorts of things can start to go wrong. Most of all, your horse’s comfort level and confirmation is diminished and his stability and movement on the trails or in the show ring will be compromised. This horses toe was getting too long which brought the shoe out from under the heel (the old shoe is on top), you could see bruising starting where the heel of the shoe was (It would sort of be like us hiking in sandals that stuck out too far in front of your toes not making it all the way to the back of your heel. After a while things would start to hurt). His owner noticed some issues and called Jason to take a look. He got her horse set up and back on the trails. And her horse was licking his lips, happy. She’s now going to travel a couple hours here every six weeks to get her horse done. We love clients like that!
Jason’s schedule is filling up but he does have a couple spots open over the next two weeks if you’d like to give him a call. If you’re close enough he’ll gladly take a look at your horse to give his opinion and set up an appointment from there. Just call or text him at 715-445-1022

Jason attended a great clinic last week with Ian McKinlay sponsored by Mustad Hoofcare, hosted by Kentucky Equine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Center (KESMARC). Jason’s attended Ian’s clinics before and always learns something new. You can never stop learning and can always improve your skills. The KESMARC is an excellent facility, Jason had a great conversation with Kristen Johnson, the owner. It’s always good to learn about great rehabilitation services out there if a client ever needs it. Check their facility out! And check out the amazing work that Ian does… he’s not only one of the best farriers in the country, he’s a great guy.

This guy has a hard time growing heel’s straight up with his large frame (under-run heels). So he needs a bit more support. He’s handsome though. And he knows it.

Grabbed a few before and after photos… (not great photography on the fly).

1st horse - Fronts. New shoes (previous farrier) Changing up this barrel horse, giving it a little more support and traction. Client made mention her horse was sliding more around the barrels than usual.

2nd horse - Hinds. Reset hinds on existing shoes (previous farrier). Drilled holes in 3° frog pads to evenly distribute the sole support, to bring this horse up a few degrees for low pastern and hind end issues.
