This is just a great reminder
Story time: yesterday Ivy had her annual Vet checkup. We got settled here, in a spot she chose. In walks a a lady with a 2 year old lab that she clearly couldn’t handle. As he’s pulling her across the lobby she says, “He’s friendly, can they meet”?
Guess what I said??
No. That’s it, nothing else. No explaining, just No.
So, here’s a few tips to keep in mind:
No greetings
Not all dogs want to meet yours. Keep space to avoid tension or fights.
Keep your dog on a short leash and close to your side
Don’t allow them to wander, pull, or approach other animals.
No flexi-leads inside
Retractable leashes can cause chaos in tight spaces.
Wait in your car if your dog is reactive
Call the front desk and ask if you can wait outside until it’s your turn.
Respect others’ space and silence
Loud voices or crowded lobbies increase anxiety for pets and owners alike.
The vet’s office is a medical space — not a dog park. Let’s be mindful and keep the environment safe and calm for all.
