HOLY LUCKY CHARMS...WE REALLY NEED TO FILL THAT POT OF GOLD . ☘️🌙🩷🔷

Kamp Kritter's sanctuary dogs really need us right now. Each dog at our sanctuary has ongoing medical needs that costs us upwards of $20,000 annually and our pot of gold is currently empty. Ruby Rose 🌹requires therapy, meds, and special supplements for her hip dysplasia, Jack's ongoing 👁 issue requires daily meds, Jose Boo has dementia and needs daily meds for that and pain. Just to name a few.

Prayers and thoughts for JACK. He just collapsed in the yard and had a major seizure. I made record time to the vet. He is in good hands. We wait. This is part of rescue work. Always have a good relationship with a good vet. It matters. Paws crossed here. Hope to be winning. TBD.

SCOUT is not cooperating with the program today. Getting his nails did and ears cleaned while they are at it. Winning. He is gonna need more Whitney Duncan and a plan for me to follow to get him in shape for a family. He is willful and has a lot of energy. I'm committed but he is a handful. Time for refresher training and to regroup. Please send good energy this way. Wheeeee.

So JACK has developed an anterior luxation in his right eye. This can occur as a primary problem in some breeds like terriers. It is secondary to to chronic inflammation of the eye and is associated with cataracts in older dogs and secondary to chronic glaucoma. That was the diagnosis. Options for treatment start with a series of appropriate drops which he has been scripped 3 to be given twice a day with 5 mins between each one. Should it not improve the lens or the eye can be removed surgically. TBD. Should it go south we talked about total enuclulation as my vet can do that. He is old now. The doc understands the reality of rescue budgets and given his age, we would choose removing the eye Should it come to that. He also gives a hefty 35% rescue discount Our bill was 212 and some change which is way better than what I was expecting. So I'll stop posting and start to give him his drops. Winning. But that drive there though. Ugh. Worth it though. They said JACK was an excellent sweet boy. Have a good night everyone. Peace ✌️.

KAMP KRITTER DOES NOT TAKE IN STRAYS DIRECTLY FROM THE PUBLIC.

Public Service Announcement as to why many rescues do not take strays directly from the public. Unlike the City shelters, the hold requirements for the public including rescues is 90 days.

TAKE THE DOG TO THE SHELTER AND AT LEAST REGISTER IT AS A FOUND DOG. If the shelter is FULL, then volunteer to foster it. This way, the shelter's 6 day stray hold is in effect PLUS you legally have to notify them anyway.

Our Story and Adoption Process

Kamp Kritter is a sanctuary for the unwanted, behaviorally challenged, or sick dogs. It is our sole goal to nurture these dogs back to health and in the case of our hospice dogs, let them lead out our their final days with a good quality of life. We are particularly careful on who we choose to be allowed to have one of our precious babies. This may sound harsh but these dogs have been through a lot. Sometimes abandoned for nothing more than being too old or too sick. They deserve the very best and that is what we intend to give them. In addition to regular health maintenance like vaccines, heartworm prevention, and food; we provide training, nurturing, and long term medical care including necessary surgeries. Our adoption fees are a just a fraction of the costs for care. We are not in this for money. Our client is the dog. After a rigorous vetting process of applicants, we will adopt to the family that fits the needs of our dogs the best. If for any reason that does not work out, we will take the dog back no questions asked. Please understand, this is a life long commitment so we want to get it right!

STEPS: 1) Complete an application 2) We review and check your vet references 3) We do a home check 4) Meet and greet at our facility in Jacksonville

If you would like to proceed with adopting one of our dogs, please PM us for an application. Thank you for considering a Kamp Kritter dog.
